The disconnect between the White House and women

Stop harping about the inequality between man and women in top positions, and focus on real issues, MO! Like why your husband vilifies innovators, and puts the yoke of taxation on said innovators, thus strangling real growth and opportunity for those who seek it.
Keep your ignorant mouth shut, Michelle. It's embarrassing.

I love that Marissa Mayer was mentioned in the article - those of us who are working our butts off to be the best at what we do don't have time to play the poor-me wah wah game that those like Princess Michelle are engaging in.

It's the difference... between PRODUCER and MOOCHER.

I admire Michelle and support most of what she says in the quotes.

The article is right, however, on the basic facts about women's underpresentation among industry leaders.
"Research shows that women have different interests, choose different majors in college and pursue vastly different career paths than men, generally speaking. The outcome of these choices is clearly going to affect the jobs they attain or how much they are paid."
This is just an uncomfortable fact.

CG... yes, there is a lot of veracity in the raw data, but what too many folks can't see is that what 'they' are trying to change in one decade or two has developed and evolved over scores of years, and y'caint reverse that river that quickly!

As I've repeatedly said about subsidies and crap like Social Security... they've both been around for an untold number of years. Any hope of reversing those tides should use a 20-40-year plan to change those rules.

Make SocSec an option where folks entering the workforce can opt for some percentage of the Government Teat, so long as they have ALL of their working 'life' to save or spend accordingly!

And subsidies and deductions that everyone bitches about? PHASE THEM OUT over periods appropriate to the business or industry. If the housing market can't adjust to the loss of mortgage interest deductions over the average life of a mortgage (like, nobody has a clue as to how long that is? Right....), the industry AND homeowners shouldn't deserve the deduction anyway. Darwin out the morons.

Likewise oil company subsidies? They know how long they will be pumping oil. Or can make their best guesses. Why should there be a 'depletion allowance' on anything that you KNOW is being depleted?! Price it in ALL along the way, and when it's gone, so are the jobs!

Silly, stupid humans... as if fudging reality can, in the end, change anything. Yep, A==A. And those are just some examples.

I agree with everything plusfaf says above. We dick around with things, charing a little more/less tax on something and doing a little more/less subsidy, but we can't make something out of nothing. Things are made by the hordes of people out there offering to supply or to buy goods/services and just doing whatever they want to do in life.

Why worry about what the supposed president's wife is saying? As far as I'm concerned she is something like a half HE! Yes, I'm with those who believe that the president and the first lady are frauds. The American people have been completely snowed. This whole situation shows how gullible the the public is. This president has made the that office into a joke.

If it wasn't for racism, sexism and misogyny, the Obamas would not be in office. Of course they are going to drone on about it using the same disparate impact garbage they apply to race matters in this country. Michelle....when you factor for part time/full time, seniority, Type of profession and every other factor that employers value, any pay disparity between men and women evaporates. The article actually points out that..."A recent Pew survey revealed that 51 percent of women admit to interrupting their career path in order to have a family" How many me do this? As to politics....there is no limit on who can run, there are more women than men in the country, if there aren't more women in politics it is because they are not running...or because other women WON'T VOTE FOR THEM!
