This is even more pertinent now since this recent election voting in Marxists, Commies, and militant, radical religious zealots. America is not doing well. Might as well adjust and have fun!

First day on my mom's boat off the east of the Abacos I caught a tuna as we were sailing...

I agree. Reminds me of a little place tucked away in the north coast of California. Very poverty-stricken, in the flood path of any tsunamis, boarded up storefronts....but extremely beautiful. First time I saw it I told my family, "If I was single I'd take what money I've saved, dress down to look poor, and live here the rest of my life." Orick, California... Might as well be on the coast of southern Chile...

If you stay longer you may find that some of those places are actually
better, not worse, as your perspective and experience changes.

Yep. Enjoy life while we can. Traveling gives perspective. It also reminds you that there are many worse places to live...

My mom did that. Lived as an Ex-Pat on a 45' catamaran. She loved it. As I she and her husband started getting older they sold the boat and settled in Florida. Now, they're divorced because he watched Fox News and she watched CNN. Their marriage on land blew up because they got old, drunk, and deranged and didn't have to work as a team anymore. Sad. I spent a sent with them on their boat in the Abacos (hence my name here). and it was unbelievable. I highly recommend it.

Yeah, I hear ya. My enjoyment will be in the form of getting into my own Gulch. I'm working fairly hard at this time because I love the work I'm doing and I'm getting paid pretty damn well. Lining my pockets and putting much of it in good investments for income. I have a fantastic fishing boat and will be getting out on remote lakes with that, drinking fine beers, reading by my fireplace, and enjoying the view from my home. If I can apply for free stuff I will at least apply, just for the fun of it...ala "Enjoy The Decline". I'm going way under the radar. Will use my personal business to take advantage of business expenses. Minimize "earned income". F-it. Gonna watch the Mamdani effect as the nation burns.

Would need some revenue for supplies... Options exist like chartered fishing trips, etc...

Clarey is a prolific author and does a fine job in providing an alternative to gloom in light of the decline.
My take on enjoying the decline is to travel and explore ... while I still have the desire, financial ability and opportunity (as in open borders [recall the Plandemic]). Cheers.
