Why I Hate Collectivism

When I was a little kid, there was a cookie called the Ideal Cookie Bar. It looked like a small version of a Twix, and it tasted similar to a peanut butter Twix... but a helluva lot better. It came a dozen or so to a package like other cookies. I loved eating them with a glass of milk.
They discontinued them about 40 years ago and I still miss them.

I just saw on Fox News where fast food places, such as McDonald's, are killing their dollar menu... due to lack of participation.

There's a McDonald's near the Walmart where I work (the one in the store closes at 11pm). I go there every night for lunch. At 3:30 am, they stop serving lunch and switch to their breakfast menu.
Last night I was busy working, and didn't get over there til almost 4 am for lunch (normal lunch hour is 2 am). As I pulled up to the drive through, they said they were cash only and breakfast only.
Feeling ornery, I ordered *my usual* two McChicken sandwiches with a slice of tomato. "That'll be $3.25 drive around to the first window.". Dumbfounded, I repeated my order, and she said, "Right, drive around to the first window".

I am such a regular there... they recognized my voice and made up the McChicken sandwiches especially for me, even though they were serving breakfast. Bless their hearts.

But, now my usual order will have to change. I get the McChicken sandwiches because A) they're $1.00 and B) they're not McDoubles. I get the slice of tomato on them, even though it's 50 cents extra, each, because of illegal aliens.

Okay, while y'all re going, "huh?" I'll return to my hatred of collectivism. The Dollar Menu is being discontinued because not enough people are buying it. That means that my purchasing habits are being affected by what everybody else (aka, the collective) are doing.

I get the slice of tomato so I can eat the McChicken sandwich(es) w/o scalding my mouth from the spiciness. Yes, that's the *regular* McChicken sandwiches. I don't like "hot" food. Chili made from kidney beans, hamburger, water and ketchup is spicy enough for me, thank you very much. And I now have to shop carefully for certain brands of ketchup because all the others are too spicy.

This did not used to be the case; but with the influx of illegals, not only are restaurants and fast food places including dishes from south of the border, the food in general is getting spiced up, making life more difficult for me.

Now, catering to the greatest common denominator is only good business, I don't blame them. But, it too often has led me to either do without or have inferior (by my standards/tastes) products. And that's why I hate collectivism.

Good thing, for example, I'm not in the market for a new car. I don't think I've seen a new model in 10 years that didn't look like a rolling turd. But it's what the collective currently seems to like... :(

I didn't blame the businesses. I blame the collective for not having taste.

Yes, I sometimes make sandwiches and take them with me. But I usually prefer a hot meal (to a cold wet sandwich, or a room temperature dried-out sandwich...)
