My late mother hated guns. I presently own six. No, I didn't shoot Mom. She died of a stroke.
Having been raised in a one-parent house, in an inner-city housing project, it is so easy to focus on what you don't have.
My mom would tell us,
"You won't see what's coming next if you are always looking down."
"The mind attracts, what the mind dwells on"
"God helps those who help themselves."
"Pray and trust in God, but always be on the lookout for the doors he opens"
Then I say "I hate hat place."
I could mention some other situations.
But to also say I hate some other things in my past just makes me enjoy my lifelong state retirement all the more.
I try to see the amazing amount of good, and have gratitude. We could have been born BEFORE electricity, before Plumbing... Even before FIRE.

"From the day that you're born, 'til you ride in the hearse,
There is nothing so bad, that it couldn't be worse."
"Mr. Pilgrim, a pleasant way to spend eternity is to ignore the bad times and concentrate on the good."
