Is this bill actually a Big Beautiful Shaft?

We are already feeling the effects in northern Nevada from this kind of activity. And, here's the deal....How do I sign up to select some of this acreage for myself? $100 says I don't get a chance. This will be more exclusive than the sale of "carbon credits" we have in recent past. As a guy who uses these lands for wandering, shooting and hiking I view this as a gutting of America. Once this is done and the Chinese or Blackrock own all this it's over for the American way of life from my viewpoint.

    The federal government should never have been allowed to keep all this land when the western states were admitted to the union.

    It's a good thing they're being privatized. But it's not a good thing it's being done in a way that will play into the hands of people like Bill Gates who want to monopolize agriculture and prevent you and me from doing it on smaller parcels. Family farms need to be here to stay, and Trump needs to keep his promises to stop state and local governments from persecuting the Amish.

    Two edged sword here as it can cut both ways. As I understand it most of us here in the Gulch are (were?) against the government sucking up the land away from private ownership and such land should be sold off to the citizenry. Now I'm seeing the land should be retained by the government to prevent certain actors from buying/controlling it. No win here. I suppose restrictions can be placed on who's allowed to buy it.

      That's a very good point. I was curious about this and did read into it. Seems that much of this land is supposed to be set up for "quarterly lease" which is applicable toward oil drilling. This is just the coverage of the bill I could find, which could be false. Trust me...My first thought is, I'd love 100 acres of this land by a little mountain lake somewhere. And that's my double-standard: If I can buy in, maybe it's not so bad. That's why I use the "carbon credits" reference. I really doubt I'll get a single acre out of this, even with cash in hand. The region where I live is likely the most Federally-owned land in the nation. I gotta admit...I've enjoyed it because I can drive out in it with my guns and targets and a little beer and lunch on ice and have a fantastic time. Imagine that! Haha.... I have been told that much of the land around here is owned by China. We should never allow that and should take it away from them, IMO.

        Sounds like you have a personal piece of paradise! I'll tip a beer to you, for sure. As for the Chinese, let them pay the taxes on the land (to keep your taxes low), but if they get uppity or use the land for any spy crap then give them the boot! I also believe if the US and China ever go head to head their ownership of US soil doesn't mean squat.
