Father's Day will be a day of remembering the man who taught me just who and what real men are. He left this plane of existence many years ago, at the age of 80. One month before he succumbed to rampant cancer he was preparing for his yearly Bike to the Bay for MS. His team, including my brothers, sisters and I (I was only able to ride one year. He and several of my brothers rode every year.) had been working all spring to get in shape. He put in a minimum of 27 miles each day so he could ride the 75 mile course one day, back 75 miles the next day. Did I mention that he contracted polio at age 25? He taught us to shoot, to work and be proud of our work, keep our promises and NEVER lie, steal or cheat. He treated Mom with dignity and deference, treated all with courtesy. He would stay calm in a storm of words and actions as people came apart around him. He was our rock, our refuge, our model for what we all wanted to be. If only everyone could have a father, a dad like mine, the world would be a better place.

Simply outstanding, OUC. Thanks for a great end-of-week reading. And as a once and forever nerd, "He finally did it!" may be my favorite of all time.

Love the last one Carl. Do not have many pictures of my dad who passed away at 57 from Pancreatic Cancer in 87 and really, he was a man of little words as well. But he said something that I will forever remember.... Consider the Source....Happy Father's Day Carl

Love 'em all, OUC! Escape, LOL! Yes to the Irish guacamole, too. And the oh-so-true fairy tale lead in. Thanks OUC!

I will post the last one on X and Truth Social on Fathers Day. The memes just made me think of him.
He didn't know I always wanted a big Sail Boat and that Dingy was the first to tow behind the Carlinda.
He loved sunday afternoons on our boat.
