It was a risk with only a couple of funny ones but hoped that the nostalgic ones would be appreciated;

True. With that said this geezer is reminded of a joke story that was told while holding a pack of Camels. You ask, if a sand storm comes up would you hide in the oasis, hide by the pyramid, or hide under the camel? The answer was turn the pack over and say check into the hotel as there is an Egyptian palace printed on the back, LOL. Holy smokes, I can't believe I remembered that!

My college roommate made a large lump of it when he was in HS, caused a lot of trouble. He also made nitroglycerin, with which he blew a hole in his concrete cellar floor. Can you tell that I like the book "Ignition!" by John Drury Clark?

As someone who grew into adulthood without mobile devices of any kind, watching people today glued to their stupid little screens like their very lives depended on it makes me pray for a nice big CME.

I noticed the same with my grand kids. Had to to + the references to Ben Hur and Bridge Over the River Kwai movies.

I quit the cigarettes when I was 32 but dumped the cigars at 61 (73 now) and am much better off. I was always very active and was roller blading in Florida on vacation and felt a bit short of breath. I figured it was the cigars so when I got back to the house I threw them all out and never went back. Wife says I was a bit miserable for a couple of weeks, but she's glad I got rid of them, too.

Had to have at least ONE serious Then and Now, the rest were just fun

Ps, I quit cigars only 4 years ago . . . still miss em, but know I am better off without em!

Texting in the '50s for the row of desks next to the wall consisted of a string line from the front desk to the back desk. The note was passed on a small piece of paper clipped to the string line which was then pulled from one end to the other.

It was hard to avoid smoking in the '50s and '60s when it was being promoted heavily by doctors and Hollywood. I managed to kick it in the early '70s after I left the Navy. It was hard to avoid in the Navy because we could get sea store cigarettes which avoided all the taxes for $1 per carton.
