Movies Without Manipulation

Excerpt:
"At some point in this century, I began to watch movies with grave trepidation. There is a good chance that somewhere in whatever film, the moment would come when the producer would send some strange political message with a barely guarded attack on some fundamental tenet of bourgeois society. They began eschewing art for hectoring.

We watch movies by choice. We pay to see them mostly. Why should we do this if the point of the movie is to sneakily attack core values and preach some strange woke creed? Stung too many times, I’m far more careful to avoid anything that seems coded with a political purpose in mind. Life is too short.
...
Good movies might make a comeback—and perhaps that is happening now—but if you are like me, I wait until the reviews are out and eschew anything coded left simply because I don’t want to pay to be insulted."
================================
I don’t want to pay to be insulted.
Don't do business with your enemies.
Hollywood is an enemy of individual liberty.

"I don't want to pay to be insulted." Pretty much covers the reason I haven't gone to the theater in years. I liked going to the show and would like to go again, but not to pay for insults and left wing indoctrination. I think the last movie I went to the theater for was "Ford vs Ferrari" - a decent flick. I particularly despise the "left-washing" of classic movies and characters I grew up with and know in their original forms. Left-washing of the classics began subtly a few decades ago, but has now become a full on assault. I'll wait for a movie to come on TV so I can change the channel if it is left wing crap or, at most, pay a buck or two at a garage sale or second hand store for a DVD that might be worth watching. Hard for Hollywood to get a dime from me these days.

👍 AS III was the last movie I saw in the theater on the day it opened in '14.
It took AS to get me into a theater even then.
I hadn't gone to a theater more than a handful of times in this century prior to that.
Reading fiction again became my escape around '96 and it still is.

Theaters near me wouldn't carry the trilogy, so I purchased the DVDs. Hmmm, this must be the last time "Hollywood" made a dime from me. Talk of the AS movie on the Net is what brought me to the Gulch, nice!

I stopped reading Stephen King when he referred to current Republicans 3x in his "Under the Dome" novel.

The serialization was a woke-fest. They canceled it after 2 seasons, either that or it died of disinterest.

I read to escape reality, not to have some Leftist hatemonger opinionate about the inhumanity of the straight white male in my face.

I want to add that there's something in the Minecraft movie that's very moving...and it's because of the audience reaction all over where the movie is playing. My son and daughter played a lot of Minecraft when they were little. There was a young man who went viral on Youtube for playing and being an expert on the game. He went by "Technoblade". My son followed him. Unfortunately Technoblade came down with cancer (if I remember correctly) and passed away very young. He gave a moving, last message via the internet to all his followers just before he died. In the movie there's a quick scene of a special character crossing the road, a character associated with Technoblade. One of the actors says, "Is that a king?" (the character is a pig with a crown) and Jack Black's characters says, "No. That...is a legend." Everwhere this movie plays in the theaters the audiences all give an enthusiastic applause at that scene in appreciation of this young man. It's very moving to experience, really. It's a moment of humanity from these young people who, for the most part, are crazy goofballs most of the time.

My kids and I really enjoyed the Minecraft movie. The previous non-manipulative movie happed to be a kid's movie too...the Donkeykong movie. Took my daughter to that. Even a dumb little animated film like that was fun as hell since it wasn't political. Haha...
