Actually, I don't believe the vaccine was designed to hurt us (it was ineffective if it was). I think it was a test of "reprogramming" our DNA, to figure out who can tolerate such injections...

So, when they attempt to "Borg" us with technology, etc. They know what percentage will adapt to the genetic manipulation and the control systems they implant.
