I, on the other hand. LOVE Pineapple on pizza.
It's my absolute favorite. The Acid breaks down the fats in the cheese/grease from the pepperoni. Then it becomes this sweet and spicy thing.

I saw that photo and screamed... "No... You did it wrong! You have to PEEL the pineapple, and cut it in the shape of a triangle. LOL!"

I've heard a couple of reasons over the years. The oldest had to do with the Roman legions in winter marches when a legging was pulled over each leg and tied around the waist so it took a pair of them. Later, closer to the English usage of the word, one of these was called a Pantaloon, hence sewn together into a single garment resulted in a pair of pants. I'm shooting from the hip here from old neurons so if I'm wrong - whatever, LOL.

Edit add: OK, I just looked up Pantaloon and the definition doesn't seem (seam?) to fit so the above makes a good story, but could be a fabric(ation) I picked up on the road of life, LOL!

Looks like a pair of a pair of pliers?

Would a pair of a pair of pliers be pairs of pliers or a pair of a pair of pliers?

Something just made a clicking sound in my cerebral cortex.

The pliers pic clearly shows the effect of having a few shots of rye before doing the repair work.
    It's still only a pair.

LMAO here OUC! Wow, start with Monty Python and end on Clockwork Orange or visa versa. Good play. Have to find the Dire Straits, Ha Ha! Oh yeah, the plunger pair is a work of of silly art, yeah I caught the name by the knight, LOL! Priceless set of wheels on the Amish Challenger.

Side note: If I recall correctly, a single plier is a lever or pry bar so connecting two together as shown gets you a pair of pliers. I think.

I liked the Amish one best until I saw the pizza on pineapple. I always thought that putting pineapple on pizza is in the same category as barbecue and chicken on pizza. Just one of those things that shouldn't be.

Since I was quite young, it always struck me that saying "a pair of pliers" was kinda weird. Without that screw attachment in the middle, you have no pliers at all.
Long time ago I looked up the word "English" and learned that it is considered to be a Germanic language.
Later on for becoming fascinated with World War One, I learned that Imperial Germany became quite offended when primarily the dominant English portion of Great Britain took the sides of France and Belgium when attacked by the Prussian German Kaiser's armies.
The English were looked upon as traitorous racial cousins.
Throughout the centuries European men of all tribes and nations were hardened brawny battling warriors who took part in all kinds of famous wars and battles.
So many have devolved into wimps. Can't say too many American haven't done the same.
"Hey, I see a thug beating up a damsel in distress! Yay! I'll record that on my phone!"
