Thus, the lawyers argued, Bellows "has already passed judgment" on Trump's "core assumptions."
But, as The Hill reports, unlike other states, where plaintiffs have sued over Trump’s eligibility in court, Maine’s system first allows the secretary of state to weigh in - unilaterally, Judge Dredd-style.

Shenna Bellows, who was never popularly elected statewide, says the usual rules of evidence don't apply to her newly-invented procedure, which is governed by Maine administrative law, therefore authorizing her to accept the Jan 6 Committee Report as admissible probative evidence"

Even if you don't like Trump, you should recognize this is horrifying.
Regardless of what one thinks of Trump, he has NOT been convicted of anything yet and, he hasn't been indicted for or accused of engaging in insurrection against the United States.
The only people bearing arms during the RIOT that took place on January 6th were the Capitol Police and the DC METRO PD.
So please enlighten me. How does one engage in insurrection without using weaponry of any kind?
Also, our own DOJ has been weaponized to view citizens who have a problem with public school boards showing Drag Queen Storybook hours and placing porno in school libraries as being "terrorists."
