I think the American Neo Communists (Democrats) want a hot war with Russia and here is a place they can get a number of Republicans (in Uniparty fashion) to get on board, especially since Ukraine is floundering as a hot point. Edit add: I have this nagging remembrance of when Trump removed 50 (fifty!) of our troops from the Syrian-Turkey border when the Turks were moving up thousands of troops against the Kurds and all the heat he got from that.
