A Sense of Responsibility to Society

Excerpt:
"As bad as things are here, they are even worse over there.

In the UK, Toyota ads for the Hilux – which is the export-variant of the Tacoma pick-up and the 4Runner SUV sold here – have been banned because the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority says that showing trucks and SUVs doing what trucks and SUVs are designed to do demonstrates contempt for a “sense of responsibility to society.”

Whatever that means.

Of course, we do know what it means. If you understand what Leftists mean when they utter such things. It means the Left does not like it – and that means if you do, you are “irresponsible.”

“Society” being the Left.

It is of a piece with the Left’s styling of opposition to Leftism – or even questioning it – as a “threat to our democracy.” Italics added, to emphasize that the Left means their “democracy.” In which you are free to agree with the Left.
...
there is the getting-tiresome lie that any new gas-engined vehicle is “highly polluting.” Or – for that matter – any vehicle with an engine made since at least the early 2000s, by which time meaningful pollution had been reduced to so little it no longer had any meaning, except in an angels-dancing-on-pinheads sense."

So, a termagant gets Toyota ads banned. Just like the smirking termagant that got plastic straws banned in California. All it took was one turtle in the history of the world to get a straw stuck in its nose and the control freak went wild.

      Ban pickup trucks? Here?
Just the F-150 alone is the best selling vehicle in America.
Add to that all the Chevy's, GMC's, Rams, Tundra's and Titans... that would account for half the vehicles on the road.
Pickups last twice as long as your typical sedan, they work harder. Tradesmen would screwed if they pulled that crap here.
I don't go more than a few days without needing the payload and towing capacity that only a truck can provide.
If one vehicle lasts twice as long as another, that's material, energy and labor saved by not having building a new one to disposing of the old one.
These people have shiite for brains.

100%! My '04 Dodge Ram is still in very good working condition, including the air conditioning. The iron ants are starting to munch above the back wheels, but after 19 years I'm not surprised. I get shock when I see the cost to replace it.

Replace the bad metal with new.
There is a thriving market for replacement rear quarters.
My F-150 had the infamous cab-conner cancer, as well as the the rocker panels. I got a lot better resale by repairing them before I put it up for sale.

Keep going. More, more more! Hypocrisy will kill the movement.

In the meantime, kill the UN, and/or withdraw.

For a long time the fedgov claimed that being in the UN allowed the US to guide it.
Since the USSR collapsed, the fedgov has become the new evil empire and
in that role they no longer value the freedom of Americans.
Now the dog (fedgov) obeys the will of the tail (UN) because that reduces
the freedom of Americans and increases fedgov power.
NIFO to both D.C. and the UN.

"Responsibility to Society" used to mean responsibility for one's self first and foremost. It has been corrupted to mean the voluntary acquisition of a debt to others who deem themselves to be your superiors. It used to be that a "responsible" society laughed at those who - like the grasshopper from Aesop's fables - demanded that everyone else provide for his needs. Now people are being browbeaten into believing that they are oppressed and deserve some kind of compensation despite doing nothing at all. It is a move towards elitism and everyone should be calling it out for exactly that. It is time to bring that ridicule back into society towards those who demand we pay for them and their lifestyles and self-importance.

If you think about it, the advantage of "society" is that you are afforded the possibility of trading with other people, which results in a higher standard of living. As government interferes with this, the value of "society" becomes less and less. The bad things about "society", like crime, having to wait in lines, dealing with government taxes and such- become more and more annoying and makes one want to live in the woods

I just read that Cleveland's mayor made the statement that "everyone has a role to play in ensuring public places are safe".

Such a statement is pure hypocrisy from politicians bent on removing the very tools that people would need for such actions.

Police and the military are PAID to offer such protection, while I am responsible for the safety of myself and my family, alone.

Are we almost down to England's level? Yes. Are we almost down to France's level? No. Well below that level. A party of Algerian refugees invaded a small community dance last week yelling, "We're here to kill white people!". They killed one 16 year old soccer player and injured a lot more. The French government responded by capturing 9 of the bastards and going after "far-right' protesters who dared to demand the immigrants be sent home and immigration halted. The reason given? These "far-right' protesters could start a civil war. Yep. We're there.
