One of the least publicized is that a crashing Chinese economy with massive worker/youth unemployment—threat of popular revolution against the regime (shades of TienAnMen ‘89)—could result in cessation of production/supply of essential components.
US, dozens of other nations’ economies are joined with PRC at the hip. Unlike USSR's 1990 failure where there was little US economic impact, a total chaotic breakdown of PRC strongly implies failure, at least massive temporary chaos, in the US economy and popular living standard.
imo, it is necessary for individual liberty to survive.
