My brothers had a knack for surviving dumb things. They were taught early to weigh the risks and consequences of their actions. Somehow they managed to survive and contribute to the gene pool. Sometimes mom and dad can teach and advise until their cheeks turn blue. Always it is the choice of the risk taker. Dumb and dumber have an edge on these surfing idiots.(Edited for additional comment)

It may seem cold, but sometimes mother nature does what's necessary to chlorinate the gene pool.

Not sure what she taught him. However my mom and dad taught me a lot of things and I still did stupid stuff and am fortunate enough to have survived to tell. This kid didn't make it.

. This is very sad for the families that are losing family members but there is no way that the ones participating in these stunts are unaware of the dangers and they therefore deserve their natural consequences.

How DARE they talk about this on the news after only a few deaths. How many people were PUSHED (Murdered) onto the tracks?
Where was the same level of outrage?
Imagine... Stupid decisions that kill the perpetrator have to be stopped...

But Dangerous/Stupid/Murderous Behavior that kill bystanders... Get pushed under the rug.

And heroes who step in to help others, get charged.

At some point... I welcome the AIs, because at least the I portion of that name will be closer to real intelligence than these people running NY show.

Why would you feel sorry for the mom? She clearly failed to teach him to evaluate risk/reward.

I had no idea what the term "subway surfing" even meant -- however I took a wild guess and it proved correct. I do take pity on the cleanup crew -- what a lovely mess.

OK, subway surfing is something AR missed, in Atlas Shrugged. One of the few things that were missed.

Darwin will always prevail! There is no way the city should pay anything to anyone doing this - but with the current climate.....
    Thanks for the post.

I do feel sorry for the mom. However, let's see if she gets rich suing the city. The lad may have had future prospects, but got a Darwin Award for his current decision prowess.
