"The Fountainhead" with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal will be on TCM at 11:00AM CST on Sunday the 3rd, according to my cableguide.

This will be the first time I've seen it in years. It will be interesting to experience watching it after having seen the AS movies.

no one reads Karl Marx without glazing over and falling asleep drooling all over anything. they're just the useful idiots of a few power mongers who already know Marx was full of it, but there are a few catchy phrases. It's like living on tweets as your personal philosophy

The sister wanted an apology. Did you know the actor who portrayed Robbie committed suicide a few years after the movie was out? Sounds like he was a troubled young man. My guess is the crew was reading Karl Marx.

when you smack someone across the face with a riding crop, you are asking for it. I think the two themes in those unique scenes with Dominque are1. domination and 2. suppression of passion
she was all about denying her passion for life and what she wanted out of life. she was angry at Roark for sparking her passion that she worked carefully to control and angry with herself for the perceived weakness of showing her passion and desire.
Penny was just a good dancer

I don't think he raped her either...although he was rough and she wanted an apology of some kind...but he didn't feel he owed her anything.. as for the Fountainhead...I don't think you can classify it rape either...he really roughed her up but she liked it. lol The comparison was a horrible..someone floated it in to name drop and discredit Rand. And fitting that thing in his back pocket was also a stretch (literally.... lol...get it.. literally?) Too early for this.

That was long. Was he reviewing Dirty Dancing or The Fountainhead? Robby didn't rape Penny in Dirty Dancing. They were dating when he got her pregnant. The only connection I can make is that Robbie thinks Rand wants him to only think of himself. Unlikely that people watching the movie got as much out of it as this blogster supposes.

The script writer was a Rand hater. (I don't know this I'm just deducing....what else would add up?)

I remembered the Rand part, and I enjoyed the movie except for that bit which seemed to me to come out of the blue.

It's the Fountainhead... he pulls it out of his pocket and says something snarky about "selfishness". (Not sure how that fit in his back pocket..but in the movie it did.)

I did a goole search and it said The Fountainhead. My wife loves Dirty Dancing and said she remembered it. I am not watching it to find out. :)

I wonder why? it was right up there with spencer and hepburn.
He told her to get an abortion and she did. he never left his wife. In her autobiography, she was clear that he was the love of her life. Fail! Patricia O'Neill. but you were also damned good in the movie the Waltons they made into the series. she played 'Livie

I was just reminded that The Fountainhead was mentioned in the movie Dirty Dancing. Another case of the left taking a cheap shot at Ayn Rand.

I just finished watching it. I enjoyed it, but Gary Cooper really doesn't fit my image of Roark.

He was to old. It just didn't feel right. I thought Patricia Neal was to emotional for my view of Dominique. Overall I liked the movie, it just didn't fit what I pictured in my mind.
