The government and the media have ways of turning normal people into extremists (terrorists). During the early '80s the survivalist movement was big amongst Libertarian types and then the San Ysidro McDonald's massacre occured. The media labeled him a survivalist and after that the term took on a different meaning to most people.

Today, those same people are called preppers.

After Sandy Hook, the press tried to label Adam Lanza's mother as a prepper and offered that as one of the main reasons that he was able to acquire the guns and ammo used to carry out his killing spree.

The tyranny of the government and its lapdog pals in the media can take the actions of one bad apple and equate them to a terrorist (racist, anarchist, etc-ist) and give the whole group a bad name.

Tyrannists are part of a standing government and use law and law enforcement to affect society. Terrorists are not part of a standing government. They use violence to affect society.

I disagree with the idea that one person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter. To be a terrorist, you are outside the government, using random acts of violence to destroy freedom. So an islamist terrorist want to kill infidels, but even more importantly, destroy a free society. A tyrannic take-over involves working with an existing govt to destroy freedom. Both destroy freedom
