IMHO, the guy's comments seemed more like a disgruntled senior American citizen blowing off some sarcastic steam. A real terrorist wouldn't need to dig up an old ghille suit or dust off a weapon because they'd be ready to go at any moment. He was executed, plain and simple. Also, IMHO, the family only says they "forgive" the F_I so they don't end up in the grave or gulag as well.
