The Other Side of “Woke”

Excerpt:
"They are the same people who are awake to the danger of what goes on in state-controlled schools yet continue to send their kids to them – and defend the extortion of their neighbors to endlessly pay for them.

They are awake – or so they think – to the dangers of “drunk” drivers, “speeders” and “terrorists.” But oblivious to the danger of the state that “keeps them safe” from these incidental threats.

How many are awake to the danger presented by ceding control of our money to a private banking cartel? Most people are unconscious as regards this pilfering of their pockets and the manipulation of their entire lives – while grumbling about the trivial-in-comparison pilfering performed by the state, in the form of the taxes it collects each April.

They are asleep to the fact that the Constitution was the result of a conspiracy – not a theory, but a fact – of a handful of men who met in secret to conjure it and substitute it for the Articles of Confederation, viewed as “weak” (which it was, on purpose) by the conspirators.

Who wanted something . . . stronger.

Do they know that several of their reverenced “founding fathers” were as uninterested in liberty – for the people – as Lincoln was in government of the people, by the people and for the people? How many have been snapped out of their slumber by reading about the Alien and Sedition Acts, as a for-instance?

Instead, they gaze with glassy eyes at the alabaster image of Lincoln – sitting on his throne like Jupiter Optimus Maximus, both stone hands resting on the bundled fasces . . . regarding him as the savior of their “democracy.”"
----------------------------------------------------------
bundled fasces . ...
- The fasces, as a bundle of rods with an axe, was a grouping of all the equipment needed to inflict corporal or capital punishment.
- it was the origin of the name of the National Fascist Party.
The powerful flaunt this power and the truth about Lincoln's true nature while worshiping that nature.

I don't agree with the lumping of Social Security with welfare. SS is a benefit that was contributed to. Welfare is getting paid for doing nothing. Too often I see these lumped together. They are vastly different.

I usually like EP's columns, but he missed the boat on this point.

imo, his point is that both are designed to make people dependent, and they do that with great success.
They are (with medicare and military procurement) also the greatest unnecessary expenditures that are destroying
America by helping to ruin the value of the USD and allowing trillions of spending to be funneled to corrupt enemies
(foreign and domestic) of honest Americans.
They must be stopped to restore rationality to federal spending.
Millions of retirees ARE dependent on SS payments and they DID pay their way. They can't be abandoned.
Younger people are still having their production stolen by government looters in SS taxes with no chance they will
ever have it returned. They must not be robbed.
A solution must be found that doesn't sacrifice either the old or the young, but sacrifices will be needed by both or
America is done. The politicians who caused this (or let this happen) should pay the most, and some others (wealthy)
who have greatly benefited by federal largess should also be tapped for payments, e.g., insurance companies,
medical companies and professionals of all kinds who have been fed by medicare.
Primarily the federal government must cut budgets by substantial amounts because part of the solution must
be to eliminate SS taxes on the young.
This is century long theft by government and banking that will not be easily fixed and all Americans will have to
make some sacrifices. imo, neither government nor industry can be trusted to do this fairly.
