I can understand the frustration of our police having to put up with the homelessness, the stealing, robbing, and harming of innocent people. They are being stretched beyond belief.

Story says the police chased the suspect for about a quarter mile. Precisely a quarter mile is at a track sports event called "the 440" for having to race others for 440 yards. Training for it was well as racing that distance is downright exhausting. I know that because I did that in high school.
Already frustrated with high crime, I can imagine the cops' state of mind after chasing a known thief with a long rap sheet that far.
I'm actually surprised they could shoot straight at that point for all the huffing and puffing.
Were the police authorized to shoot? Reckon not. Charles Bronson's Death Wish vigilante charter would have opened fire. In those movies the public considered him a hero.
Whenever I was assigned a prison tower way back when, I was legally allowed to shoot an escaping convicted felon in the back as long as I first fired a warning shot and the escapee kept running.

My problem with this story is the way MSM headlines it--"Shot for shoplifting pair of dark glasses." No!

This thug was shot for resisting arrest. Bodycam footage clearly shows a scuffle to get the guy handcuffed before shot(s) were fired. Also, it's not even clear who fired the shots or the exact circumstances. Maybe the thug was trying to get hold of the officer(s)' revolver(s), and shots were fired because of this.

I don't like to see MSM jumping to conclusions and ruling out accidental or justifiable deadly force. In general, there are far too many crimes against property (actually against the owners of property) that are going unpunished these days.

If only the VA police would arrest all of the criminals from DC (who are guilty of far worse) including all the mainstream media (presstitute propagandists) based in DC.
