When We Didn’t Drive Devices (and We Could Quickly Board Airplanes)

Excerpt:
"It has been more than 20 years since the day after which Americans got used to being handled like felonious cattle at airports. Stand here, don’t go there. Off with your shoes. Spread your legs. Those born after that day have no memory of what it was like to just get on a plane – sometimes, at the last minute – and fly to your destination without having to do more than show a boarding pass to the stewardess – as opposed to the “flight attendant” – at the gate.

Well, a day may come when people no longer remember what it was like to drive a car – as opposed to a device."

Funny, I stopped doing both about the same time: (when they went nazi at the air ports).
I don't miss flying but I do miss the long trip interstate driving although these days, I am more likely to take the back roads.

Oh how I miss the sound of a four barrel carburetor wide open. Remember "and I got rubber in all four gears"? And Woodward Ave in Detroit. - automotive engineers got some of their ideas from the modifications done to the street cars. to make them go faster. Had a fifty dollar bill taped on the back window - take it if you can. A bye gone era -miss it big time.

And the same people who destroyed the age of "catching a flight" are now destroying "taking a road trip". Your tax dollars at work.
