Maybe they'd be better off if we did anyway...keep them from killing others and themselves, but we need a responsible and effective way to treat them.

Failure to recognize and deal with reality should be a definitive sign of mental illness. The mental health complex in this country has failed miserably. There used to be two mental heath facilities in the town where I went to high school. They turned all the patients loose and closed the facilities down.
