Eudaimonia's Challenge

To date, I have seen ASp3 six times.

Twice in Las Vegas, and four times yesterday in Fort Collins (I was trying to play Gulch Ambassador.
I even bought a ticket for the fifth show which I ended up not attending.

Today, my wife and son went to a showing in Fort Collins while I caught up with some work.

Tomorrow, the three of us (and maybe four of us if Ron promises not to fall asleep, he's 84) will be going again.

So that's eleven or twelve viewings and ten or eleven tickets before the close of Opening Weekend.

The Challenge: top me.

Cheers Eudaimonia. I may have watched the trailer almost as many times as you've watched the whole movie, if that counts....

Receiving the soundtrack from Scott was also a wonderful unexpected surprise.

Dear Kaila, in that case I will have to purchase your book, Pendulum of Justice. (Just got a great discount on the Kindle edition.) I had already noticed the book and piqued an interest, so I had little excuse not to buy it at this point. Thanks for the honorary ticket, and for the trade. ! -jarvis

I've only gotten two inquiries while wearing my WIJG tee... one from a woman outside the theater where we'd just seen the movie.

She had never heard of Atlas or Rand, so I had to juggle how to 'explain' the background to a blank slate.

In retrospect, I think AS3 CAN stand alone as an 'introduction to Atlas Shrugged' for newbies. The flashbacks and even the Ron Paul cameo can, I think, make the connection for a lot of folks today.

If nobody else here will, I'll Amazon a copy of AS3 DVD to when it's available.

Amazon DOES ship to third-world States, don't they?

    :)

Send a gift certificate to a Democrat in Congress if they can prove they bought their OWN ticket and can get signatures from multiple witnesses that they actually sat through the entire movie... awake.

I loved seeing my name (Alan Falk) in the end titles! Woo-hoo!

so, kh, how are you? You're looking well. Can you tell that I've lost weight since the last time I saw you? No, no that much. Walking. Just walking, and saying no to all the chocolate cake that sasses me [it says "bite me"].

Heheh sounds a lot like my weekend :)

It's not showing anywhere in Canada yet so I flew back to the US to watch it on opening weekend. Watched it another 5 times, so I'm up to 7 total including twice at the premiere. Now hoping it makes it up here soon.

Loved it every time. Laura and Kris have both played their parts to perfection, as have most of the other actors. The scene where Dagny sorts out the switching mess is one of the most amazing scenes I've ever watched on film and is exactly as I imagined it when reading the book!

There are a few continuity issues, and a few important scenes are a bit truncated and I hope we can convince the producers to smooth things over a bit in an alternate version for the DVD.

But other than those small annoyances ASP3 is very true to the book and quite powerful and is a great completion to the series. I'm so happy the 3 movies exist now. It's an incredible accomplishment and still hard for me to believe they've been made and made so well!

    Good Premises!

Several decades ago, many of us who were upset with the same old Congressional foolishness sent tea bags to our elected representatives. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Washington were inundated with "Who is John Galt?" Post It Notes?

yes. I, however, know some that would have been in the audience. One a fair haired maiden who is a good friend of the family and won a small stipend for college in HS by entering an AR Atlas Shrugged contest...she's in grad school now and would have been to one of the opening weekend shows. I'll message her and find out if she saw your beard in the crowd ;)

Some but mostly an older crowd.
I'm sure the majority of the college aged crowd in Fort Collins is sausage.

    Yes and no.

No one there seemed too enthusiastic about discussing the movie afterward with a stranger.
    I blame that on myself.
Although it could also be that I was in Fort Collins: I know what it is to live in a Politically Correct Zone and to feel the need to censor what you say aloud in public.

However, cyberwizard & winterwind showed up with a friend and that was some very good conversation.

Hi Khaling. One fellow in the small afternoon group in Edina MN felt it didn't step up to her whole book, to which I said, 2 hours cannot cover hundreds of pages; maybe it's a great show if just to help people start to think critically. :)

    Challenges crapolages!
Zero theaters in Alabama where I live retired on a fixed income, according to the map. But in all the surrounding states? Yeah, of course . . .
Mean old dino me ain't crazy about driving to Atlanta and back.
I'll get around to seeing it. One of my brothers gave me AS2 for Christmas. That know-it-all still claims he gave me AS1 the previous Christmas but he didn't. I had rented both from Netflix before last Christmas anyhow..
