Beef Cattle inventory down...

excerpt:
“... 28.9 million beef cows, or those explicitly bred for slaughter and meat sales, which is down nearly four percent from last year and the lowest the agency has recorded since 1962...”

Beef inventories are down. It takes over 2 years for a calf to be ready for slaughter. Consider this in relationship to the decline/destruction in chicken raising/processing industry as well as the increase in droughts and supply chain/fuel shortages/transportation problems and fertilizer production decreases which are hampering and will worsen for vegetables and fruits and grains.

Just something to ponder over a morning cup of coffee - while it’s still available....
I’m wondering if the Wookiee’s can eat their pronouns in a few years.

i own and operate a small ranch (section and a half) in the Hill Country of Texas. Typically I run a little over a hundred head of Angus and Limousin. The drought was so severe I sold half of them last year. Selling some more because hay is up from 70 bucks a round bale to 185, protein feed is up 60 percent, and producers are not getting near the return as meat processing plants are getting. Last year so many folks lined up at auctions to sell off cattle, we got clobbered, lucky to get .70 per lb. Now, the shortage is in, and prices are around 1.75. stock up on meat now if you can, prices are going up “still”. I process my own beef, and have a walk in freezer, so I am lucky in that respect. Plus the ranch is home to roughly 300 wild hawg, so I got bacon covered…🤣🤣

History repeats itself . The Deep State Cabal says “let them eat cake”.
Now it’s our turn to respond.

Now I know what me dino wants to eat with some brussel sprouts and a potato in the fridge..
After I get a haircut today, I'm gonna swing by a grocery and buy myself a steak to support cattle ranchers and cow farts. Not to mention Piggly Wiggly.
To hell with eating cake. I'm a Type 2 diabetic.
Red meat good. That's why short Asian legal immigrants grow taller American kids.

"Just something to ponder over a morning cup of coffee - while it’s still available.... " Have you checked the price of coffee lately?

The climate creeps attack on beef never recall the millions of buffalo, caribou, and elk farting and pooping all over North America and the planet did just fine. Ahhhh, but the along came the white man, slaughtered the great herds, and saved the planet!! Bwaa ha ha ha!!!

Yep, the coffee prices are outlandish as is everything else. I haven't had my coffee today, I'm rationing it for "special occasions" and as needed. That should stretch my SS check a little bit - ha ha

My wife and I still have a stash of coffee when it was about 1/2 to 2/3 the cost it is now. Hopefully a price dip will happen and we will stock up again. Not holding my breath.

Do you keep that stash in the freezer? I've been told by coffee shop owners that maximum flavor declines after about a month. And yes, my prices have risen about 100% (from sale prices, anyway) in the last year.

No. We keep it sealed and in a cabinet in the basement where it is cool. Our favorite for a while now has been Folgers Black silk with Maxwell House French Roast a close second (we like the dark roasted coffees). So far no problems with the flavor. I'm not a coffee flavor connoisseur so a very decent, however imperfect it may be, dark coffee is good enough for both of us. We do prefer percolated vs drip to make it, though.

Don't look like herds are down where I live. Southwestern flyover country. Lots of Angus and the "ghost" (limousin) cattle. Lots of cattle and hog trucks running around. We always look for the local label when buying our meat at a local chain which seems to be priced lower than the national chains. Good stuff.

That's good to hear. Not the same in PA. Used to lead motorcycle rides in PA, and always saw lots of cow in Lancaster, Reading and Bucks County until around 2020. Then you couldn't find any cows because ranchers/farmers were being charged much more to keep them. It was very strange to see.

Government is a very bad thing in general, IMHO. The reason I say this is that government simply mandates what it wants, without regard to the boots on the ground effects their programs result in. Look at what Biden has stupidly done by trying to outlaw fossil fuels and promote electric cars. He is making us pay more for fossil fuels to force us to go electric. But electric cars are NOT new at all. They are just not practical even now- charging times, charging infrastructure, available of materials for batteries, travel range, etc. Someone who buys an electric car now is kind of stupidly asking for a significant lowering of living standard. But government doesnt care at all, while THEY travel on private jets to go to useless meetings around the world. Government shouldnt be able to AND ALLOWED TO interfere in economic decisions people make- PERIOD

Attacks on the food supply combined with attacks on the military, attacks on law enforcement, attacks on energy production, attacks on national sovereignty and independence... It's almost as if they're trying to take down the system in order to install their own and enslave the populace or something...

When I go shopping with my wife at the supermarket I'm shocked at the prices of Beef and cold cuts. She will pick up ground beef when there is a sale. I wonder how much of the beef is disposed of when it's past the expiration date. The prices should be lower to avoid wastage. To reference MCcannon there is a good population of ruminants in the world that is farting methane that the Greenies ignore. They just don't understand the world we live in.

Some groceries are discounting products close to 'best by' dates.
We are in a co-op that receives such products every week.
Unfortunately it's mostly drinks, bread, cereal and junk food (chips and snacks), but we do get more
than enough fresh produce, sandwich meats, and (frozen) chicken/turkey to make it worthwhile for us.
We give away more than we keep voluntarily.
Lots of drinks are given to delivery people all summer.
This week for the first time in over a year one grocer had a sale on
meat products and the prices were only 40-50% more than last year.
