If I recall reading in the past Mussolini was a Marxist, that is a socialist/communist but realized by observing Stalin it wouldn't work. Instead of giving up socialism he created socialism/fascism as the alternative. Socialism, communism, fascism (Nazism) in the end are all slightly different flavors of the same poison pill.

Yes but they claim they are anti fascist. This is an attempt to redefine fascists as part of right wing extremism and keep themselves and Republicans separated. It pre WWII Europe the fascists and communists were rivals for power nothing more.
