What is most disturbing about this is that the original decision was the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court and the appellate decision was the Foreign Surveillance Court of Review. Yahoo never got a hearing before a non-FISA court, and these two courts were deciding matters of Constitutional law.

    Probably... unfortunately... but there might be cause for concern, hesitancy when one party fears retribution after a "changing of the guard' at election time...

    ...and if there were such a law, would it be ignored like so many today? We have immigration laws, but they are not enforced.

    A legitimate government is one that operates under the principles of the US Constitution and enforces the laws that were passed. This government is not that. 2/3 of our federal spending does NOT fall within its authorization by that same Constitution.

    Government courts supporting government coercion... more invasions of privacy and violations of the spirit and letter of the law... all too commonplace. I am usually the last one to say "there should be a law", but there should be one that holds government officials liable for infringements of Constitutional rights.They sell our liberty---our rights for a false security-- for a pittance.

    Herein lies the problem with bypassing the Constitution... what was Yahoo's recourse? Say no and face endless fines that would impact the company's bottom line? This is an onerous federal government we have today, and it needs to be reined in.
