I have noticed several members mention that they are or have been on strike. I am not myself (I will explain more later today on my intro), but I have considered it and an fascinated to hear some real life stories. Anyone interested in sharing? Or if there are previously posted stories please point me in the right direction.

Wow. That sounds like a bit of the fictional life of Hank Rearden, come to life! Well, be secure in the knowledge that your looted tax money went to a higher purpose, like dog trainer. That's unforgivable! Unfortunately its not surprising. the rampant greed of this sdministration is boundless! Good for you that your eyes are open, but I'm sorry that it has come at such a price. Hang in there!

Hi OA, I believe that in the listings for homes in that area, it states that there are no schools. I will do some digging and see if I can get some specifics. It is unfortunate in its locale, I quite agree.

I working on a painting now, as a matter of fact. I'm trying a new technique, and am curious myself about how it will come out. When it's finished, I will surely post it. :-)

    Good morning NMA,
That is very interesting. How do they discourage people with kids or those who will have kids from moving in?Too bad NJ has other issues. Their "republican" governor is like ours inconsistent.

By the way, make sure you let me know when you post some more pic's of your work on your page in the producer section. I don't know anything about art, but I have some friends who are avid collectors and your style seems right up their alley.
    Best Regards,
    O.A.

I shrugged off my business in 2007. First it was the moochers, I couldn't seem to live in peace without doing something to appease them. Then it was the looters. The government seized $60,000 on a mistake they made. Even after they admitted their mistake, I still haven't seen my money. The moochers only got worse. I walked. I had everything I could ever want, and I walked. Away from the business, from my fiancé, from the house... at the time I was in the process of buying my dream car, I walked away from that too. I was a marketing consultant and graphic artist. I loved what I was doing, helping small businesses achieve their goals. But I couldn't keep feeding myself to the zombies. I had to start a minimum wage job about a year ago. Seems to be big fall from grace, but I have less worries. Most of the people I work with don't believe I ever had a business that successful, let alone that I would ever walk away from it. Let them think what they will. They'll learn eventually. In the last year, I've come to realize that my own family is among the worst of the moochers. I feel alone now. Empty. I'm in the process of liquidating them from my life. I need so desperately to find a real Galt's Gulch...

21 years as a public school educator. District, state, and national awards for excellence in the classroom. Volumes of positive feedback from students and parents. None from administration. Still got paid the same as the slugs who put forth little effort and were never around to help kids. Couldn't take it any more. I walked away. Now, whenever I need a name tag for some event, I use "John Galt".

I dont get it guys??? You mean a one in a million genius who creates a tremendously valuable and useful piece of software doesnt owe it to US to just give it away? Why not, its for the public good, and after all what higher purpose is there? If they are that selfish I will just create it without them...oh wait, that is if I knew how to create any valuable piece of software myself. Oh well, I guess I will just steal it! (OBVIOUSLY this is a JOKE. I am trying to speak what someone who might rationalize this tells themselves. Love how the people who are the loudest are the least productive and have no real value or solutions to offer)

To me, it seems only logical that it would be protected. Someone created it with the purpose of it getting used. Just not for free, and not without a licensing agreement. Keep up the good work, both you and okie!

Yes, that's the name, and it really exists. It really made me wish I had my mom's old '65 Chevy Impala SS, or my nephew's Murcielago! When you read it you'll know what I mean. :-)

Hello OA, we had neighbors that moved to a town in NJ that does not and will not have any schools. It's empty nesters or people who chose not to have kids, so no school taxes. They love it!

I work with a 35 year old mother of 3 who works 6 hrs a week at a neighborhood grocery store. Combined with her FT work income, her tax rate is north of 50%. Of course her taxes just went up. She said "F...it. Why wreck every Sunday afternoon for enought to buy a half tank of gas. I quit." She's never read AS, but she gets it.

I left the workforce for about a year after paying over 100,000 in federal income tax alone. After being very depressed about the state of our union for some time, I finally decided to give it another go and started my own consulting firm about 9 months ago. Doing well, but feel like I am playing the game as I am self-employed and do everything I can to cut my inputs to the tyranical government (and there is quite a bit one can do).
