It’s War: Apple moves against Twitter, helps CCP, so Musk vows to air skeletons and maybe move into smartphones

Excerpt:
"he cannons are all swinging around to point at Elon Musk. The former darling of the left is holding Kryptonite — today he recklessly encouraged people of different political views to engage in civil debate! He also promised to drop “The Twitter Files” soon, showing exactly how Twitter suppressed free speech, saying “The public deserves to know what happened”.

Twitter, after all, may have affected the 2020 US election by protecting Hunter Biden and the FBI. It also may have protected Big Pharma by suppressing bad news on vaccines and good news on cheap antivirals. There is a body count in this free speech debate… and Elon Musk recognises the gravity of the situation.

This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in America, tyranny is all that lies ahead.

In reply to this dangerous free speech concept new signups at Twitter are at an all time high, but Apple has withdrawn advertising on Twitter. To which Elon Musk asks “Do they hate free speech in America?” And apparently they do, because they are also now threatened to withhold Twitter from their App Store and they’re not even trying to explain why.

Apple similarly deplatformed Parler from its App store in Jan 2021. Twitter had banned the President of the US and Parler was taking off as the alternative. It threatened to take 80 million Trump fans off Twitter. This was so unthinkable, the thought of Trump and the deplorables having a venue to speak at, that Google deplatformed Parler too. It’s like a information cartel isn’t it?

Indeed 50 other companies also apparently hate free speech and have withdrawn advertising from Twitter now that Elon Musk owns it. This includes Chevrolet, Ford, Jeep, Kraft, Coke, Nestle and Kelloggs. What is it these companies want to achieve that is more important than reaching new customers?
...
Ron de Santis weighed in, warning that Apple looks like a vassal of the CCP
Apparently there are reports that Apple is stopping Chinese protestors from communicating with the iPhone air drop. De Santis argues that Apple is providing aid and comfort to the CCP. And he thinks it is serious enough that if Apple bans Twitter, congress should respond."

Fat chance that con-gress will do anything that defends freedom.

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you will, but I have a theory. It goes like this...

The advertising industry (propaganda at its peak) and its personnel has been going Marxist/woke (wokeness) for some time now (just watch TV commercials on any channel for a while), just like what went on at Twitter and is going on at Google - its a contagious disease. The sale of wokeness is just getting a free ride on top of whatever the producers product happens to be. I always thought big companies like Apple, GM, etc. hire advertising firms to create and place ads and many producers may even contract with the same ad firms - correct me if I'm wrong here because I'm shooting from the hip, but I am shooting at something that "looks like a duck". The ad firm's people are the "experts", of course, and they advise the producer firms of how, what, and where to advertise. Therefore, if a company like the new Twitter pisses off the woke community the ad firms will "declare war" and begin taking their clients away. Even though Twitter traffic is now really growing and would be good for producers ads I'm sure the woke ad firms are BSing, which is what they are really experts at, the leaders of the producer firms to withdraw their support.

The CCP has a lot of clout over firms that have large portions of their manufacturing in China, which is a lot of companies of which Apple is only one. I wouldn't be surprised if the CCP has infiltrated the ad industry here.

I’m ready for a smartphone from Musk, and then get rid of my dumb phone from Apple.

Me dino bit the Apple too to enhance the audio of my hearing aids, though I'm down to one hearing aid now.
Androids could not do that at least back then, Hoping a Musk smartphone will have the same capability.

It seems like Bluetooth on an iPhone would be the same as Bluetooth on an Android phone. My hearing aids work fine on an Android phone. Never tried them on an iPhone because I refuse to contaminate myself with anything from Apple. 😉

Of course my hearing aids are super duper, government issued ones because of the tinnitus caused by being around 5"/54 guns too much in the Navy.

Just FYI, my husband's hearing aids work beautifully with his Android phone now. He's been using them for maybe 6-7 years? Not only that, our Android is a very old version - Galaxy Note 8, I believe. I'm certainly not going to replace mine until I know what Elon's going to be making.

For me, Mrs. Fat-Fingers, the one essential accessory for any phone I use is a stylus. AND that it not be an Apple, but for me that's nothing new.

Apple should stick to making electronics and stay out of censorship. If apple continues down this path, I will switch to another competing company and away from apple. I lived a long time without apple, and can do it again

I'm with you on this, term2. I switched over to Apple in 2010 and was very glad I did. Now most of what I have is Apple-centric because it all seems to work so smoothly. The only problem I ever had with Apple is the cost, but all of my Apple stuff I've purchased since 2010 is still working - I have friends who seem to have to replace their non Apple computers and other stuff every couple of years.

However! With all that said, if Apple keeps going down the woke path I will show them the same door as Disney and may it not soil itself hitting them in the ass on the way out.

I can't make up my mind if Musk is a White Hat or a Black Hat, so I'll call him a Gray Hat. This certainly is good news in any event.

No one that powerful can really be trusted, simply because nobody can afford to sue him for any reason. But I'm all in his favor as long as he's improving the liberty situation, and for now he seems to be doing that.

As far as a Musk phone, you can already buy a Starlink from SpaceX, though it isn't cheap. If he produces a cheaper cell phone and promises not to engage in the practices of Apple or Android in either viewpoint discrimination or data sharing, I'll buy in.

Ideally there ought to be an antitrust suit that stops Apple and Google from doing those things either. But I don't trust the government to fix that, because they should have done it decades ago.

I suspect none of this has changed over the years because the politicians have been sucking loot and power from it for years - OK, I can't prove any of that, but that's my guess. Oh wait, don't the tech giants "donate" giant moolah to campaigns and other stuff?

I have always disliked social media and avoided things like Twitter....Maybe I should sign up if for no other reason than to show support.

I think Elon and the new Twitter are going to be vindicated with widespread adoption after a while. Elon has stated Twitter will disclose a gallery of censorship shortly.

It will be difficult to argue that Twitter is a problem soon. This entire Twitter event might bring people back from the insane left to the center, and the left becomes the type of comedic punching bag the right has been.

Not sure about Apple, but assume they are simply reacting to their user base for now, and will go back to advertising where it makes sense, quietly.

What DEFINITELY needs to happen is for Trump to fade away. He can not win a general election, even legally, although he might be able to win a Republican primary. This has been the Republican problem for a while. To win the primary, you have to be hard right, which fails in the general. Let DeSantis in. He can win the primary and the general. Trump needs to let his brand cool.

I hope that Twitter can be redeemed and reverse the censorship of the net.
That could happen if it is a source of profit for Musk. He is not really concerned
about free speech unless it is to his personal benefit.

DeSantis is effective in FL but he will have no effect whatever in DC - even less than Trump did.
If he goes to DC then FL will be lost to the left next.
Tens of thousands are moving to FL from the Blue northeast, and that
includes many people who never, ever thought they would leave NYC.
They are leftist from birth and few will ever change.
No one that is acceptable to either the Dems or the GOP will ever be
representing the will of the People or the limitations of the constitution.
DC, the feds, and both major parties must be written off as beyond redemption.

IMHO, one is as bad or good as the other. When Steve Jobs was alive and running Apple I would give the nod to Apple except for being so pricey. I'm noticing "problems" showing up in Apple software, especially slowness, with each "upgrade". If Jobs were still in charge heads would be rolling. Tim Cook is no Steve Jobs.

Here's a true story: My employer was all Windows and vendor software would only run on a Windows machine, therefore, office machines were all Windows systems. I would bring in my personal Apple laptop to do some tasks mainly for field work. I could start both computers at the same time and then hang up my coat, go to the restroom, stop in the break room for a coffee, and go back to my desk. On a good day the Windows machine will be just finishing its wake up. The Apple would be up by the time I hung up my coat. The Apple never "blue screened" in the middle of a process. That was before. Now the Apple is in competition with slowness and "hangs up" on rare occasions (as opposed to never). Now I'm retired with all Apple and I don't have to put up with the quirks of Windows - uhhh except Apple is now getting a lot like the old Windows. Can't escape "progress" I guess. The Apple hardware is still pretty solid - my 2010 desktop (iMac) and 2012 MacBook Pro are still running. The iMac runs virtually 24/7/365 - the only thing that shuts it off is a power failure.

Politically I think both have gone left and both are sort of owned by the CCP, which is where the hardware manufacturing is being held hostage.

Linux is easier than ever and it's open source. So far I'm not aware of any Deep State affiliation.
It runs on almost any pc compatible hardware and is more efficient in using the hardware.
It's also one of the best for privacy. More web sites run on Linux than any other OS.

        Or you could try TAILS.

I've had exposure to Linux a few times over the years, most heavily with a Raspberry Pi project a few years ago. I am surprised at how similar it is to Apple's underlying OS (Unix-like). Some of the console commands on the Pi would work on the Apple and vise versa. It was a good project and I learned a lot about Linux and Python, but it was long enough ago my related skills are rusting over, LOL.

Edit add: I'll look more into Tails. Looks interesting.

8 billion humans on the globe, and Elon Musk gets all the attention. Who decides the tone and angle of what people are deluged with? What emotions and memes are being stirred? Are the manipulators worried about leaving even one breath of clear thought in anyone's mind? Must everything always be at the moment before midnight?

If anyone can take apple and the others down, seems like that person is Elon....interested in seeing what happens.
I have no dogs in this fight except free speech so I'll be popping corn, ready for this entertainment.

The rest are Android. Lots of brands. Do some research on-lline and you can find a used un-locked one for a lot less. I have never bought a new smart phone and never had a problem with any of the used ones. (You'll probably want a newer one in a few years and you can sell the older one on eBay to recoup some of the cost.)
