What Can’t be Hacked

Excerpt:
"Remember that beginning with the 2026 models, all new cars will be required by law – courtesy of the Biden Thing – to have a “kill” switch built into them.

An electronic switch. One that can be flipped remotely, via . . . connectivity. Keep in mind, as well, the fact that the government would also have access to your car – being able to get inside whenever it likes.

All of the for the sake of what, again?"
----------------------------------------
For the sake of control of the People by the government traitors.
Hang them.

I think I know my next career. I'll start a business that does two things. One, it will disconnect your car from the modem doing the communications. Two--assuming that cars will have to receive a signal through that modem before they can run--I'll install a replacement modem and transmitter that will simulate the signals from Big Brother.

Screw the government. Someone will figure out a way around them.

I want "in". I was just thinking the same. The basics of the internal combustion engine certainly hasn't changed since I was a kid. Get rid of all the crap on a new one and it'll still run if you cover the basic needs. The problem is Big Brother has regulated the old ways out of existence and that could pose a problem.

iirc, it's a federal crime to remove the pollution gear from a car.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I wrote, "The problem is...".

I'm certainly no regulatory lawyer so I can't figure a way around it. Perhaps, if necessary, drop a pre-reg motor into a modern vehicle? Hah, I can almost imagine the 440 from my '69 GTX sticking out the hood of a '22 Honda, LOL! Old time boom while sitting in a modern cockpit.

69 GTX..........you really know how to make a guy jealous. I’m actually looking at a 67 Jeep Commander at the moment. No rust. I’d put the running gear from a “modern” wrangler in it. Preferably a YJ with a carb. No emissions stuff needed at that point. Cars and light truck emissions are based on the manufacture date of the chassis. Medium and Heavy Duty trucks are based on the drivetrain.
I can deal with Carb and Points system. They may run like crap at times.....but at least they run.
Another more sketchy solution is to buy a Mahindra Roxor and strip all the important bits out of it to put on a clapped out 60s Jeep CJ. They are essentially the same vehicle. Bolt holes and everything.

Yeah, the drive train in my '78 CJ7 couldn't be killed, but the iron ants ate up a lot of it and I finally gave it away about 10 years later. I like the Gladiators now, but the sticker price turns my stomach - looking to trade in my '04 Ram w/Hemi, which is long ago paid for and still runs good so it's hard to get past the latest prices to let it go.

1976 seems to be the year that everything is grandfathered in. Although it might be 1973. I live in the north with the rest of the Frozen Chosen. Everything even close to that old has long since turned into iron oxide or is cocooned in a museum.

Eric Peters hits the nail right on the head and drives it home! Again!

I've recently had and am still having key fob issues. Only $300 to fix at a dealer. I yearn for the old days of normal keys! This fob crap sucks.

My Dad taught me a lesson. I had a 1988 Ford Escort. The ignition lock jammed and we couldn't get it out. So he wired up the battery and the starter motor with residential wires to a big dual light switch box inside the car. I flipped on the battery switch, and then momentarily flipped the start switch and then back off fast so as not to grind the gears. We laughed so hard. I drove the car like that for a year.

I miss the simple machines. You can fix them any which way you want to. My airplane is from 1946. It is 100% machine. Not one computer chip in it anywhere. All mechanical. Simple in a beautiful way.

As it is cars are getting more and more insane to work on.

"As it is cars are getting more and more insane to work on." I've worked on my own cars for the first 3 or 4 decades of driving in my life. Not anymore. I don't have the time to research and fool around with all the crap on a modern vehicle. It seems you need months of training on how to change out a tail light. OK, I admit it - at 70 I won't stand out in the snow to figure it out, either. However, last July I did change out the tail light on my '04 Ram pickup. Had to find a YouTube video for the procedure to do a simple thing - or should I say to do a thing that should be simple.

I always admired good auto mechanics and even more so today. It seems they have to know everything to do anything.

LOL, yeah, especially when the darn thing is in my pocket and I bump it and that starts the horn beeping out in the driveway - then the wife gets on you about waking up the whole neighborhood - sheesh. That also implies you can bump it and unlock the car and never know it.

Micheal Hastings friends and family said he drove like a librarian. Never ran a yellow light, always came to a complete stop, would never speed. Yet in 2012, This is the guy allegedly drove his C class Mercedes down a side street at 120mph into a tree. and oh yeah, the motor was found hundreds of feet (unscathed) upstream from the crash. MB was not allowed to examine the car. Against his family's wishes, an autopsy was not performed, and again, against family wishes, his body was cremated. Five hours earlier, he told friends the "bureau" was after him because he had solid evidence of massive government spying on innocent American citizens. Not two months after Michael's assassination an MIT professor was on Rogan saying that any car that has a computer and GPS antenna can be hacked. This was in 2012. GM Onstar debuted in 1996, with a kill switch. Read up. This is ancient history.

Well, because if we are good sheeple. The govt will only attack the EVIL right wingers...

What they don't realize is that after the Right Wing is gone. The CENTRISTS will be the new Right Wing.

And it will continue until the most clueless, uneducated trolls are a slave race. Eating Bugs.

I think Electric cars will likely kill themselves, not to mention what the Sun can do to them...but thinking of your heading: The Mind cannot be hacked! I know, cars don't have minds but it is what entered my thought when reading your heading.
(separate from the physical brain, doncha know.)

Note to me dino self~~If my 2013 Honda can last as long as 2026, buy a slightly used car like I always do anyway. My first Honda lasted 12 years before all the electronics in my dashboard went out.
I gave thanks the headlights stayed on during a long drive in the middle of the night. Two days later I traded it in for the second of three Hondas in a row.
