Fed's focus less on "journey" than on destination, but can only fly this plane looking in the rear-view mirror

...so the eventual "destination" they wind up with might be something considerably different than what they expected--just like the black-swan iceberg that sunk the Titanic. Only that captain was presumably trying to look forward (as best as he could), not simply guided by charts of past events.
