Eye Contact Must Be Consensual At Popular Bar

People get dressed up to go to a club because they want to be stared at. Besides, how creepy would it be to ask for ‘permission to stare’?

Welcome to Club High Strung.

If Atlas Shrugged teaches us anything, it is that the looters constantly are moving the goalposts (or in this thread, the precipice). You are never as close to what would be a merciful for us end as you wish you were ... because wishing does not change that A = A.

When I saw that story, at first I thought it was from The BEE. Then I saw that it was serious, and all I could do is laugh. But I think it's a tie between idiocy of this story and the idiocy going on in Kalifornia, where they just passed a law saying that all new cars sold starting in 2035 must be electric, but 13 years before that date (where only 9 percent of the cars currently there need charging) the power grid isn't sufficient to support the current needs.

The days of Crocodile Dundee are over. The Aussies are just wieners now. Firearms and COVID response are perfect dead canaries in their coal mine.

    RIP our southern sheep-cowboy brothers.

I have traveled much of the world. But, I haven't been "down under". Until the past years, I still wanted to go. Not so much anymore,

Right there with you! Like Canada, we could probably take over that country with a good high school football team.

Interesting that you should say that, as football was originally designed in the United States to be a "non-lethal" form of training for young men to prepare them to go to war. This straight from the college football archives. There were adjustments made over time as far as rules, etc. to try to reduce the number of injuries - especially fatal ones - including direct appeals by Presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt. If one thinks about it, however, the skills taught on the football field include:
          leadership - especially by a play-caller
chain-of-command - players (field units) are subject to play calling (orders) from coaches (strategic leaders: generals, etc.)
obedience - everyone has to execute the same play even when they may not see the bigger picture
being part of a team - everyone has to execute their own parts in order for a play to work
goals - victory matters and is measurable
physical fitness - athletes maintain the high levels of personal fitness necessary in a combat soldier

I'm sure someone could add a few more.

Well, it may have morphed to that, but US Football comes from RMob football, from which rugby, and soccer also started. In the mid-late 1800's, shortly after they standardized on fields without shrubbery impediments!

The best thing is that Soccer is a UK slang term derived from "Association", shortened to "assoccer" then "soccer". Now they act like the US people are buffoons for using the term they created. Idiots.

Luckily, when it comes to America, if you can see something while standing in a place you’re “allowed” to be you can stare all you want. Even take a picture. By SCOTUS ruling. Fordyce vs somebody. It means they can’t trespass your eyes.

Apparently, stupidity knows no bounds. I’m not sure who’s more stupid those who thought up this policy or those snowflakes who think it’s a good idea.

I have always been the kind of person to look straight at others when walking by them. I have no ulterior motive for doing so except to acknowledge their presence.

For the past 20+ years, it has been my Job to look directly at people from a distance and at close proximity...they were customers and potential customers...what's a person to do.
I live in this world, Not just trying to get by unnoticed.
