I have a deep fondness for SSA revolvers. For safety sake, it's recommended that one chamber be left empty to prevent an accidental discharge. I prefer the safety I have trained into my head and a full 6 chambers.

Just another good reason to vote in November and hope enough Republicans in Congress will oppose Biden's forthcoming gun grab--it's a dead certainty Democrats will not oppose Biden on this.

I didn't see that (not having a working television set.) but, real Marines or not, I doubt that they were enthusiastic about being there; however, most likely they were not given a choice.I can imagine things that they might have been thinking, and various profanities/obscenities that they were not at liberty to utter aloud. My service having been merely as a 4-by-10 Naval Reservist, and cut short by epilepsy (I did not apply for the discharge, told them not to do it), I could still sympathize with Marines in a case like that. (Poor devils!)

Didn't the Supreme Court just the other year uphold the individual person's right to bear arms and say it was covered by the U.S. Constitution?

There is a lesson here somewhere. Single Action, Double Action, Semi Auto and Full Auto. All are very different guns but they all require an operator to fire.

I was recently handling my single action revolver (single action not single shot) checking the fit of a new cylinder I had purchased. This required removing the hammer from half cock position to resting on the hammer block. Safety on (hammer block, finger not on trigger, barrel pointed in safe direction) as I pulled the hammer back to disengage it from half cock position ( requiring a trigger release my thumb slipped off the hammer.
Since it was an empty cylinder I was not concerned about it going off but this style of revolver should not be dry fired as the firing pin can damage the cylinder. The existing hammer block safety being engaged prevented the hammer from contacting the firing pin. It can happen with any revolver single action or double action. And I really trust the ones that examined the gun......not! Safety should not be disengaged until weapon is pointing at an intended target and then only after going to full cock. Then the finger can move to the trigger..

HaHa! I remember those well. I even had a cap gun that had the hammer flattened and smoothed to facilitate "fanning" the hammer for rapid-fire. I went thru a lot of cap-strips as I recall!

Stabilizing braces are blatantly silly, and clearly an attempt to skirt a law. Bump stocks were even sillier.

That said, the law is even more blatantly silly. Who cares how short your rifle or shotgun barrels are? I mean WTF? Even worse are suppressors, which are personnel safety devices. Trump should have pressed for suppressor legalization in his first half term when he had both houses. However, he had no idea how to accomplish anything at that point.

Registration is another pertinent topic that was covered in John Ross' Unintended Consequences.

There was an excellent video linked to that article.

It shows how some lawmakers will stand behind a blatant lie, even to the point of ignoring any viable research on the subject...it's just plain scary.

Makes one wonder just how many OTHER factually unproven lies they stand behind.

You will remember the old westerns where the shooter fanned the trigger to fire 6 rounds rapid fire. Even then he had to have pressure on the trigger to do that otherwise the hammer would have locked back.

Older revolvers never had hammer blocks so the hammer rested on the firing pin and sure could discharge if dropped. Most revolvers these days do have a hammer block that only drops if there is pressure on the trigger. Most semi auto guns also have some form of a hammer block or they have a half cock trigger so the hammer does not have contact with the firing pin when half cocked. There is no doubt that guns, mechanical instruments, can and do malfunction but 99 times out of 100 there has to be a human screw up except with what we call Saturday Night special GARBAGE Guns that should all be destroyed.

Over my (age 75) many years twice in a Western movie I've seen a dropped gun go off during a gunfight, but I can't recall the name of either or even if it was the same movie. Anyway, it was a movie and enough said.
Anyway. that has nothing to with FOS Baldwin indeed pulling a trigger and thank you +1 for teaching me something I did not know today.

We had guns on the training range that did in fact fire themselves. That malfunction was traced to a worn trigger seat and the guns were sent back to the armorer. Alec Baldwin is FOS and the gun in question was inspected and in proper working order. The gun was a single shot revolver which first required him to cock the hammer back and second to pull the trigger. He can run his BS game on those who have no knowledge about how guns work but he can't run the game with me or the investigators.

As the sergeant in that Gary Cooper movie about Alvin York said at the rifle range, "A bullet has no brains. It will hit wherever you're aiming it. So don't you start murdering each other."
As for Alec Baldwin's BS claim that he never pulled the trigger, I recall an Alabama DOC firing range instructor telling us to keep our fingers away from our triggers until we were aiming at the target downrange because pulling the trigger is the only way a gun can shoot.

Every projectile that leaves the muzzle of your gun is your responsibility! Everything you can do to make every shot go "As Directed" is of the utmost importance. Shoot straight or suffer the consequences or don't shoot at all.

Dino, your insight means a lot to people who care about effectiveness of weapons in self-defense or otherwise. Just that Biden won't give a damn. Anything that smacks of weapons in the hands of the American people is his enemy.

You get no argument from the dino over what King Joey cares or doesn't care about when it comes down to We The People not having any guns at all.
Me dino wrote what I care about. That's all.

Biden doesn't care about these technicalities. All he's seeking here is to start peeling back the 2nd Amendment so nothing remains.
