United States of America is a Republic with the constitution as the contract between **We The People ** and our Government.

The constitution does not have the word Democracy in it.

“Only a government that is rich and safe can afford to be a democracy, for democracy is the most expensive and nefarious kind of government ever heard of on earth”
Mark Twain

Democracies have been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their death.
James Madison

Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.
John Marshall

The experience of all former ages had shown that of all human governments, democracy was the most unstable, fluctuating and short-lived.
John Quincy Adams

It has been observed that a pure democracy if it were practicable would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies in which the people themselves deliberated never possessed one good feature of government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity.
Alexander Hamilton

Democracy means simply the bludgeoning of the people by the people for the people.
Oscar Wilde

The problem is that democracy is not freedom. Democracy is simply majoritarianism, which is inherently incompatible with real freedom. Our founding fathers clearly understood this.
Ron Paul

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.
Thomas Jefferson

When Benjamin Franklin was asked, 'Mr. Franklin what kind of government have you left us, his response was 'A Republic if you can hold on to it!' I think I got that right. N

As an honorably discharged navy veteran I can say without hesitation that although I, aka "we the people", must honor every facet of the contract we sign with the government, the government has no trepidation or hesitation altering their obligations while ensuring your ass is on the shopping block for thinking to renege on your obligations.

That is how it’s been , when Trump gave his inauguration speech he said “ Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning, because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people.

For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government, while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered, but the jobs left and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs, and while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land. That all changes, starting right here and right now, because this moment is your moment --- it belongs to you. It belongs to everyone gathered here today, and everyone watching, all across America. This is your day. This is your celebration, and this, the United States of America, is your country.”
He is not through. That is why the deep state continues their nonstop attack against him.
The Patriots are winning this war.

Plato: Democracies DIE when they become TOO democratic...meaning, anything goes, and what usually goes away are: morals, ethics, mutuality with others and good behavior.

One Must be Invested in a republic in order to choose one's representation, not simply just occupy space within one, display the flag and behavior of the country you came from or look upon others to take care of you.

A republic's government has but one purpose and one purpose only...to mind it's borders and the moral rights of the individual under it's constitution. It makes no laws and minds it's own business.
All else falls to the Towns, cities and states within the boundaries of the republic.

Here's my second favorite quote on Democracy (Someone beat me to 2-Wolves-and-a-sheep): :

"What is supposed to happen in a democracy is that each sovereign citizen will always vote in the public interest for the safety and welfare of all. But what does happen is that he votes his own self-interest as he sees it... which for the majority translates as 'Bread and Circuses'."
    --- Robert A. Heinlein

Training Manual No. 2000-25 that was published by the then War Department, Washington, D.C., November 30, 1928.

Prepared under the direction of the Chief of Staff.

    CITIZENSHIP

This manual supersedes Manual of Citizenship Training The use of the publication "The Constitution of the United States," by Harry Atwood, is by permission and courtesy of the author.

    Democracy:

A government of the masses. Authority derived through mass meeting or any other form of "direct" expression. Results in mobocracy. Attitude toward property is communistic--negating property rights. Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether is be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences. Results in demogogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.

    Republic:

Authority is derived through the election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them. Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences. A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass. Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy. Results in statesmanship, liberty, reason, justice, contentment, and progress. Is the "standard form" of government throughout the world. A republic is a form of government under a constitution which provides for the election of

    (1) an executive and (2) a legislative body, who working together in a representative capacity, have all the power of appointment, all power of legislation, all power to raise revenue and appropriate expenditures, and are required to create (3) a judiciary to pass upon the justice and legality of their government acts and to recognize (4) certain inherent individual rights.

Take away any one or more of those four elements and you are drifting into autocracy. Add one or more to those four elements and you are drifting into democracy.

Republic, a concept that the Democrats either forgot or never understood in the first place.

The Democrats have never been in favor of a Republic and it is stamped in their history as a party, not only of racism but of elitism. They want a world divided by classes and ranks and preferences, not united under the proposition that "all men are created equal" because that would mean they would have to act honestly and work - two concepts which appear to be anathema to them.

So true and it is baffling that they get any supporters, it is evidence of the power of brainwashing.
Not only does it imprint a dogma but it seems to also disable discernment, logic, reason and reality.
Quite a powerful weapon in this irregular war we are in., one that needs to be disarmed.

It seems whether it is climate, vaccine, energy sources, it all ends being about "consensus." The very thing Rand warned us bout, and how easily it beons the door to Fascism. No democracy, no Republic, once that takes hold.

The dangerous part of democracy is that it pretends that it is freedom and the majority of the people believe it. They will enforce its tyrannical laws through peer pressure, ignore its fallacies and violence and pretend those were just 'mistakes' that can be corrected. It will devolve into totalitarianism and war on 'others' that are not in the group. It will accept ridiculous presumptions as fact and demand the right to enforce them. It will control, tax (plunder) every part of life until the productive are lifeless and then kill them. The 'people' will be conned into believing that they actually have some control in the system when they have none. The foolish majority will continue to believe that if they can get the 'right' people into office then obeying them will return their liberty meanwhile they will obey those who enslave them believing that to do otherwise will be worse than what they are experiencing.

To move forward in making America great again we need to fix this distortion.
Evil operates with a narrow focus , unfortunately with a great deal of success. It simply twists distorts and perverts reality.
The salient point you lay out is that A is not A.
It certainly could be A if the “majority” want it to be.
But in fact it is the ruling elite which is a tiny minority that determines what the majority want. They use the tools of propaganda through control of the media but also bots in social media and they behave like school yard bullies. The many mind numbing truths you describe need to be addressed and corrected. The Best is yet to come can happen if we get back to the basics.
I am heartened by the fact that many are becoming wise to the charade and the media has lost the narrative. This is the first time in my life that has happened. Thousands of citizen journalists have become editors in this info war. Thanks for your great comment.

“Let us settle ourselves and work and wedge our feet through the mud and slush of opinion, and prejudice, and delusion and appearance, that alluvion which covers the globe …..till we come to a hard bottom and rocks in place, which we call reality, and say, this is, and no mistake; and then begin, having a d’appui, below freshet and frost and fire, a place where you might find a wall or a state, had set a lamp-post safely, or perhaps a gauge, not a Nilometer, but a Realometer, that future ages might know how deep a freshset of shams and appearances had gathered from time to time. …. If we are alive, let us go about our business.”
Walden and Selected Essays by Thoreau
    Thoreau says it very succinctly.

If it was majority (mob) rule democracy, then the 2020 election would have resulted in GOP control of the senate and Trump as POTUS.

It is a kleptocracy at best, with treasonous corrupteteers in control of all facets of the unconstitutional federal government.
