New Facebook and Twitter "sign in" options
We've just deployed a couple of new "sign in" options that give you the ability to sign in to Galt's Gulch using your Facebook or Twitter accounts. Once you set it up, as long as you are logged into either facebook or twitter, you can sign in to the Gulch with just one click - no need to type in your user name and password.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Log out of Galt's Gulch
2. Click on either the "sign in with facebook" or the "sign in with twitter" button
3. Approve "Galt's Gulch Online"
Annnnd... you're done. Now log out of Galt's Gulch again to try it out and just click on the "Sign in to..." button of your choice.
Please try it out and let us know what you think.
Thanks,
Scott
P.S. We will NEVER post to your facebook or twitter account without your explicit consent. This feature is meant for the purposes of signing into the Gulch only.

As far as attracting more trolls, this site is public and allows simple registration.
And what's more, a while ago I posted a link to a Facebook page of our good friend JGISD, where he was actively trolling for people to harass us.
If it wasn't successful then, it won't be successful now.
I also post good things about this site on Facebook quite often.
Maybe it gets shared and a hater sees it.
So, IMHO, the haters who hate us enough to harass us are already here.
Based on our conversations here, we're seriously considering removing the feature altogether. We're really just wanting to understand fully everyone's issues before killing it off. We took your comment VERY seriously.
Of course I can cancel your membership luck but we really wish you wouldn't go. Please reconsider.
Hello Mr. Desapio,
I have been monitoring this conversation and frankly I am a bit uncertain what to think about it. I have difficulty seeing all the implications. It seems harmless enough but something doesn’t feel right. I have no problem with advertising the site and drawing new members from wherever you wish, but I feel it is no hardship to go to the site and sign up through it. It is easy to save your password and sign in screen and signing in through the original means. If it is too difficult for someone to do this then are we extending to every troll who wishes to spout off an easier entry when they don’t even have to start a membership, or does the sign in through this means only work for those who have an existing membership? Perhaps these concerns are unwarranted, but we have a group here that is naturally predisposed to caution as they know and have experienced the vitriol of the detractors, and know of the past security problems associated with those particular social media outlets. Many of us do not do facebook or twitter for these reasons as well as not wanting to support entities that often seem adversarial to our principles, or support political adversaries.
I hope itisntluck reconsiders or some accommodation can be reached. We will miss his input.
Regards,
O.A.
Seriously Admins, Gulchers etc...what is so friggin' difficult about having to log into the gulch independent from Facebook...is anybody in here THAT lazy?? What IS the benefit? Oh...That's the question of the day.... WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF THIS LOGIN PAGE BEING ATTACHED (in any way) TO FACEBOOK?? (and...."ease" is not a worthy answer.)
And no, there was really no other reason, then "ease." The Gulch gets a significant amount of traffic from facebook in particular. The intention was to make it easy for those users to create accounts and sign in.
At this point, after the brutal beating you've all given me, we're seriously considering killing it.
The eye candy is bonus. My wife likes all the “beefcake.” She thought the original Spartacus was the hottest, now she can’t make up her mind between Gannicus or Crixus. Luckily she has me (strong man poses)…. LOL
Strange that I have no problem with field dressing a deer and growing up in farm country I have witnessed and sometimes participated in the processing of many farm animals, but I have trouble with displays of human dismemberment…
Oh the humanity!
Regards,
O.A.
OK! Crixus has just made our %$&* list after Fridays episode!
Good show though.
So you are a Gannicus gal?
Regards,
O.A.
I'm not sure what you mean. Can you expand on that David?
Right, None of these come into play here though. Your Gulch username, password, content, comments, etc. all remain completely under your control. The Gulch does not get your facebook information and facebook does not get your Gulch information. The two accounts only get kind-of connected for the purpose of quickly loggin in. That's it. No other info is exchanged. Period.
Promise. :)
I am glad you are enjoying the series. Gannicus will return. I have all the DVDs so far released and I am now waiting every Friday for the new episodes. There are only a few left, before the rebellion is put down. Stupid is not a word I would ascribe to you. :)

O.A.
I think there is a shrugger in the open here. There is this really old stone house down the road. It's gradually been allowed to deteriorate, as in the LARGE Don't Tread On Me banner has faded and torn, the balcony has collapsed, and on the front of the house is a plaque which reads..
John Galt, 1707. I want to take a photo but I'm afraid the guy might shoot me! Lol
Enjoy!

CYA! I'm ungirded
Hide yer head!
Season one, “Blood and sand.” Season two (actually a prequel), “Gods of the Arena.”
Season three, “Vengeance.” Have all been released on DVD and I imagine Netflix.
Season four, the final season is called “War of the Damned”
Is half way through and playing on STARZ every Friday night. They are showing the first episode on line for free (http://www.starz.com/originals/spartacus...). Otherwise you may have to subscribe to Starz or wait for the series to end and release the DVDs. Enjoy!
:)
We may eventually put in an option for you to post directly to facebook/twitter from the Gulch but for now, it's for signing in only.
How might that happen exactly? The Gulch is already open to the public. I feel like I might be missing something here. Please elaborate.
We actually get a significant amount of traffic from facebook daily.
Although I really want to understand, I'm afraid I'm still not entirely sure what your concern is. Rest assured however, you are not obligated to use this option. Nothing will change for you in your experience in the Gulch.
