    So I just found out something very cool that I never knew about one of my dearest friends. Her name is Kira, and her mom named her after... You guessed it! Kira from 'We The Living'. I almost fell out of my chair! We were talking about AR, and she said her mom loved AR, and that's how her name was chosen. I thought of you then, and your own daughter. Very cool!!

        Yes, the daughter is my friend!, Kira. And I did tell her about the site. She hasn't read AS, but has read 'We The Livivg'. She has AS, so I told her that was my assignment to her. She has to read it!

        I know! I gave her some grief over that! No too much, though, because she just got out of the hospital because of a pulmonary aneurism. She is going for a whole battery of tests this week. I'm anxious for her!

        ok, I am a retart today-your friend is Kira and HER mom was an Ayn Rand fan. so she was named Kira very soon after that book became available. because I forget exactly, but it was my understanding it didn't sell that many copies and was re-released after AS. so her mom would have read it in the mid 60s or so.

        I would have made my kid read all the fiction books and write a report.
        my Kira did her senior paper on AS. however, she probably picked her theme from pink monkey or something. lol

        it was High School. I was an english major in college and can assure you Ayn Rand wasn't one of the authors taught at Iowa, at least in the English Dept.

        it was in our college bookstore-most of her non-fiction as well as fiction. but when I worked at the bookstore, I checked to see what professor(s) or class they were ordered for and there never was a specific listed. but they weren't returned at the end of the semester. if I had rip off one of those covers, well...

    lol PC can kiss it! I'm reading The Joy of Hate right now (literally, right now), by Greg Gutfeld....this book is mostly about what pc and being "tolerant" is making us into as a country. Want to guess??? (It equals something close to being ballless panty waists.) :) Now I'm off to do yard work....oh...the joy of yard work.

        yes. but where is aurora? this mostly was off roading and through the arroyos of somewhere you will know, I won't say. stuff is still going on-I can hear it, but we're home now. I am amazed at the $$ involved. anyway, just drove up onto the main road, set up our chairs and luckily didn't have to scramble out of the way :)

        The arroyos is what I meant, heard it said so many times but never spelled it..Lol. Los Vagabondos Del Mar is where my parents have a place. You would enjoy talking to them. Dad had his old, warn copy of The Objectivist Newsletter out while I was there and I kept taking it over to the pool to read. (My son surprised me with a copy when I got home). Actually, Dad runs every other morning to the arroyo and around and around it. Maybe you will see him in a Who is John Galt polo shirt I brought down to him....

  my sister-in-law used to deliver babies in Kansas City and every now and then, she would have a young mother deliver and want to name her daughter after female body parts pronounced the way it's done in this sketch. She and the nurses would to discourage them. sometimes they succeeded, sometimes not

        Yes khalling, but most of us seem to escape such ignorance and naivety before we reach the age of reproduction. The environment seems to promote and accept such things, and if you question the wisdom you are just asking to be attacked as prejudiced even though your intent is to elevate and educate. We all know somebody regardless of race who suffered playground torment because their name offered an easy target. Then the parents wonder why there is a self esteem problem… What there is is a parent IQ deficit…
