[T]he financial numbers for Victoria's Secret suggest that intersectionality might not provide a successful foundation for underwear sales. The company's stock has declined 32 percent since its peak immediately after the reorganization last year. The company recently forecasted declining sales numbers and, in a survey conducted by Bank of America, 23 percent of women said that they liked Victoria's Secret less than they did pre-Covid, compared with 13 percent who said they liked it more. Executives have even tried to blame poor financial performance on the war in Ukraine, which doesn't suggest confidence.

By itself, Victoria's Secret is insignificant. It hardly matters whether the undergarment manufacturer fails or succeeds. But as a symbol, the company provides insight into the political culture of America's multinational corporations, which exert an enormous influence over public life.

I had to look up "intersectionality" and found this:

    "noun
the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage: through an awareness of intersectionality, we can better acknowledge and ground the differences among us."

I now know as much as I did before I looked it up. Rush Limbaugh called this crap "psychobabble".

Intersectionality really means an attempt by fake victims to prioritize the demands of different subgroups of fake victims. Naturally there is more than one way to prioritize them, and every so often they fight about who's on top.

I laugh at anyone who joins in the fray.

Part of the stupidity of their "strategy" (I even hesitate to grace it with that term) was that there were already several well established plus size womens underwear manufacturers with solid reputations, with much more well-known plus size models who showed the styles with class. The new VS ads made it seem like they insisted their models try to look as frumpy and angry as possible, so it's almost like they think their audience wants to see a model who looks like she's thinking "I really hate wearing this crap."
