I sent this sweet story to my millennial daughters who are a bit too entitled. Thank you!

    Love it!, Thanks brother Dan...

I'd say that this Gulch is just such a place to be valued.

What this really displays is just how so many in this world are creeps and scammers. You can be sure both the used car lot and the pawn shop were very well aware of the real value but wanted to screw the young girl.

Another moral from this story: you are worth different amounts to different people. You are worth what you are being paid by your employer. You are worth what your spouse or children think of you. You are worth nothing to the elitist. You are worth fighting for to the Marine.

My brother is a narcissistic ass, and he's unfortunately taught his youngest son how to be one too. The last time I visited him (about 20 years ago), his youngest, a teenager, told me he felt other people should appreciate him as much as his father did. I told him that the adulation of others is based on the lies only you know, and that the appreciation most important was when you can look in a mirror, and see that the person who knows the secrets no one else does is honestly convinced you've done the best you can. After that, my brother wanted his kids to have no further contact with me.

You're either in the wrong place, or you believe you're worth more than you really are.

Many people, today, have been fooled into believing this.

why do I think that was penned by Ayn Rand. Maybe because it is so appropriate today.

This is great! It seems obvious, but not at all. Ths father knows the value of the jeep, but of course its a metaphor for self esteem. That is difficult to achieve. Most people don't know what it is, especially if they talk about it a lot. Knowing with whom to surround yourself and to avoid comes later.

It is so rare to see something with insight and truth. Especially within the current world circumstances.

that was great ....“In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are at its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of people be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved integrity. Do not lose your knowledge that our proper estate is an upright posture,
an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it's yours.”
