What Does "Independence" Really Mean? Is There Anything Left To Celebrate?

Excerpt:
"Jefferson wrote, poetically, about the truths he declared to be self-evident. That all men were created equal – by which he meant that all men have the same equal right to independence. To be let alone, in other words. Neither owned nor beholden. Free – to pursue happiness, as each individual saw it. How can such happiness be pursued when one is not independent from this thing styled “government”?

When one cannot even celebrate independence from the government of Great Britain by lighting off fireworks that fly or explode in most of the rump states of these United States, singular?

When one must present a government ID – an internal passport – to travel within these United States, by air?

When the government presumes the authority to dictate – without even the pretense of any American being “represented” – that every American will roll up their sleeves and submit to being experimented upon as the price of the “freedom” to be allowed to work?

Americans aren’t even independent in their homes, which are liened in perpetuity to the government, no matter how long ago they became independent of their mortgages. The government having asserted its ownership of what they deludedly permit themselves to imagine, almost as children, to be “their” property.

Americans aren’t even free to decide for themselves whether to wear a seatbelt. Their children have become veal calves owned by the government, which “schools” (and “masks” and injects) them according to its preferences. Parents in America having been reduced to little more than breeding stock.

This will only abate when American decide in favor of independence. Their own independence, psychologically first. Fiercely asserted in their minds, first. And – if need be – defended even more fiercely. But the first step toward independence is recognition of the fact that it cannot exist alongside subordination to the government that is its mortal enemy."

Without winning a war of independence, secession will not be tolerated.
The Deep State is at least as tyrannical as the traitor and war criminal Lincoln was.
Since 1860 it has not been a voluntary union. It is a forced enslavement of all.

Agreed. DeSantis would do it with less "in your face bravado." There would be a ton of drama with Trump.

Recently I came across a political map of Arizona showing a patchwork of areas of citizens of the state right, right, and center. I think many states probably are in the same situation. If Texas does secede from the Union I hope Arizona would be next. Then we will have people migrating to other states that match their political beliefs.

DeSantis has the webos. I’d rather see him than Trump honestly. Trump makes the left lose their minds. And like it or not we have to deal with them. I’d rather not be handcuffed to a triggered raving unreasonable lunatic who’s only coherent thought is “OrangeManBad”.

AWESOME - there is hope after all. Now to get someone in the White House with the strength to see it through.

Reality can be a cruel master.
Many of the 'educated' have been set up to be blindsided by:
    (a) their leftist college professors, and
    (b) statist politicians,
neither who have ever produced anything in a free market competition.
How many will be able to adapt to reality?

The self-reliance and de-centralization of that era made it so they would be shooting earlier. If me and a bunch of my friends were not dependent on anyone but a bunch of people we grew up with, lived in proximity too and thought the same way, we’d be shooting by now also. The whole Debt Based economy was a master stroke to ensure control. It’s part of the reason that those who seek to get back to that lifestyle are vilified by the mainstream.

Reference Trudeau being able to essentially “flip a switch” and steal protestors wealth/means of support. And THIS is lauded as a GOOD THING by the so-called “Democracy” crowd. King George didn’t have that option available.
That’s why it’s so important to get out of the system. At the very least construct parallel systems that will provide at least some support in the event that the “Official” one is taken from you. Or, be a supplicant slave to the system.

We are easily headed for a Benevolent Neo-Feudalism being masqueraded as “Socialism” to appeal to the “most educated electorate”. And the adjective will only apply if you “please The Crown”.

Want proof? How can Rules for Thee but not for Me Pelosi advocate for redistribution of wealth? She herself is sitting on millions. While people she allegedly represents are homeless pissing and shitting in the streets. Even AntiFa gets it. Remember when they smeared pigs blood and left a pig head in her driveway? She and her ilk have no intention of implementing “From each according to his ability......blah blah blah”. At least not for them. We saw their true colors during the Scamdemic restrictions. All we need to see to connect the dots is out there.
The trouble with Trump is.....he’s like a flare to a heat seeking missle. He burns so brightly in their minds he obscures the true target. They can’t see it because anyone who says “OrangeManBad” has now inoculated themselves from criticism for their actions.
    That’s Trump Derangement Syndrome.
So great is their hate. It blinds them to reality.

I think the geography will be a mix. It seems wherever there is a population concentration the lean is to the left and those are scattered around the country and all are surrounded by what's left of Free America. As VetteGuy says it looks like the middle against the edges but the lines are far more blurry than the first Civil War. IMHO, if the SHTF the cities will implode quickly like Rome did when the barbarians broke the aqueducts. It will be a mess that may last centuries.

Far more likely would seem the middle against the edges. But your point would still apply. Lots of hunters in the middle of the country!

I don't think that men should be going into a ladies' public restroom. Regardless of how they feel (or claim to feel) about it, the fact is, if they have male genitals on their bodies, they are in fact male, and there is a risk to females if they go in there.

Just hope we never do another Civil war with the north against the south. My buddies in the south have weaponry we up here in the north can't even legally own.

Interesting to see you say that, GaryL. About 20 years ago my cousin, who was a history major (now deceased - RIP Cuz!) said on numerous occasions, "If those 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence were alive today they'd be saying, 'Grab your guns boys, it's time to do it again!' "

Unintended Consequences by John Ross offers one approach (albeit more difficult now than when the book was written.)

Rethinking this. Keep the guns stashed for a later day.
As for the vax, were I to be forced to get it, my thoughts would more be along the line of hanging one of the high-level bureaucrats responsible. Under cover of darkness, strip them naked, hang them, then leaved the body outside their place of employment -- ideally with the rope anchored to a fence / gate around the state building. No note or manifesto -- unnecessary.

I think the reason that folks are not yet shooting is because we (and I include me in that we) are quite distracted in our comforts. We're able to tolerate a lot of 'abuse' because in the bigger picture, we still have our homes, gardens, children, careers, spectacles and all the goings on of our respective lives. Life was just much more difficult and course 200+ years ago. As I've observed with friends and family -- things will need to get a whole lot worse before 'the guns come out.'

Then as now, the country is divided into three basically equal camps. . The Left, the Right and a center who is neither informed, nor cares. The center doesn't vote, dosen't actively participate in social doings or have a committed opinion they are willing to voice. Back then they were mostly farmers and others too busy with providing for their families. Today the center is too distracted with material possessions and electronic gadgets. So say the right is ready to fight, back in the 1770's less than 5% of the angry colonists took up arms. Yes one third of the young nation was fully behind them, but very few risked life, limb and property to secure our freedoms. The British called the revolutionary solders treasonous and vowed they would hang, one and all. The took the wind out of many a sail. Yet that tiny handful carried the day. Would that still happen today? With dozens of Google spy balloons hovering at 80,000 ft, Dirtbox and Stingray electronics doing man-in-the-middle phone and data intercepts. Top that off with our own government (i.e the DHS) armed to the teeth and already considers anyone who disagrees with them domestic terrorists...
