I also often wonder about this. It seams that to get in they have to portray a more moderate view which is rather sad, I am hoping that is the case here, but I do not think it is.

I think something to keep in mind is that the culture is so skewed left, right-leaning politicians might have to portray themselves as moderate to accomplish anything.

Thanks for this article. It was an interesting read. I have felt that Paul Ryan was a bit of a moderate for years, but so is Romney in my opinion. I think Ryan is a good Running mate and the pair is likely the best electable option we have had since Reagan ran for office, but I do not believe they will fix the financial situation. It will have to be driven by congress; that is where the real fight will be anyway.
