Baby formula was not always a staple of an infants diet.

I'm posting this to be helpful as society's expectant moms, moms and children are being muscled into this societal dependence to simply eat.

Please do not take my word on this or the word of the person who wrote the link I'm sharing, look into this yourself before you make/feed your child anything.

After our last hurricane, I was in our 100 year old supermarket when a young man rushed up to the counter with tears in his eyes. He said, "I can't find any baby formula and my baby is hungry." I took him by the hand over to the evaporated canned milk area, pointed out the karo syrup and told him to boil baby's water and bottles/nipples. He looked at me like I had 2 heads! It was reported to me later he returned to the store and wanted the name of the 'angel' who gave him the recipe for baby formula. They wouldn't give him my name! Some smart aleck at the counter, told him I was a city councilwoman and mayor pro tem of our city. Probably someone who hadn't voted for me. At that time, I was operating a charitable pediatric asthma clinic. Lotsa babies. My mother owned and operated an infant Day Care. N

    Good Job, Good info, AJ.
Don't know what I was fed as a child but I know it wasn't store bought formula...didn't help my hyperactivity but on the other hand...I'm still alive today with few if any problems......so far!

Would not follow that recipe as it does have significant risks of issues esp with the powdered mild and karo syrup till after 12 mo of age. After 6 mo( new guidelines) add in eggs esp the yolks/ and at 9mo can use yogurt/cheese( full fat) as sources as well. ready to feed formula should be back in shelves in the next 2 weeks. The powdered version is what will take a while. Check with your pediatric offices as we have some samples that can be given out..

Bill Gates is pushing his ready to feed formula..no surprise there. Do you trust Gates?

As I said I'm not referring anything. I'm sure there are other recipes and substitutions in recipes are not uncommon.

I would not recommend anything he suggests lol. The recipe presented is an old one but has some issues. My former residency director [a GI doc] was one of the ones who showed the dangers of that recipe, as my mentor, I definitely agree with his view. Contact ones pediatrician to work out a custom situation based on each individual child.
