The “New Religion” of WOKEism is getting preferential treatment in public schools.

Thomas and Alito are asking the right questions.

Kennedy's lawyer told the justices on Monday that the firing violated the coach's right to freely practice his religion. Clarence Thomas asked whether Kennedy would have been fired had he taken a knee to protest racism. Samuel Alito queried whether a coach taking a knee to protest the invasion of Ukraine, or climate change, or another political issue would have been fired.


If schools that teach religion are ineligible for state money, Alito asked, are schools that teach critical race theory also ineligible? The lawyer for Maine's school system stammered and confessed he didn't know.

Sounds like the makings of some productive lawsuits.

It’s just a THEORY right? That would not imply it is fact.

    Wow, this is very interesting. If SCOTUS can view some of this woke crap as a pagan religion maybe that could be used to get it thrown out of public schools. It's poetic justice, IMHO.

    As long as the coach was not using coercion, or any threats thereof, he should have been left alone, and allowed to pray there if he wanted to.
    And I know what such coercion is like in public school. I started first grade in 1958, and in my second-grade year of 1959-60, I was frequently subjected to my teacher's badgering me about why I didn't attend church on Sunday (which was my parents' decision, not mine.) And when the Supreme Court made its decision against government school-coerced prayer, I was glad, (but not so glad when I saw that the Court decision was being routinely defied in Virginia.) But what we really need is abolition of public education in this country. (Perhaps, it could eventually be accomplished on a state-by-state basis.)

      I went to school in the deep south, and in high school we started the day in our home room class with a "spiritual" reading, expected to be from the Christian Bible, but after one girl read from the Torah (she was Jewish), I decided to test how far the instructor would go. I was surprised that after I read from Marcus Aurelius's Meditations, she used that to show (her words) God's message of tolerance and kindness is for everyone. After that, other students read from Buddhist, Hindu, and other spiritual sources, and students actually looked forward to the readings.

      I also was raised in a non-Church attending family in an era where if you didn’t go “there was something wrong with you”. Some kids were not allowed to associate with us. It was hurtful then. But, I do understand the logic now. Eventually I became a believer. In spite of the actions of the other believers. I believe God gave us free will. No coercion required. I recently left a church that had begun race shaming during sermons. The pastor and his wife are WOKE beyond belief. They’ve simply replaced the Gospel according to John with the Gospel according to BLM. And a fair amount of implied shame if you do not comply with these beliefs.
