Elon Musk = Hank Reardon?

Your thoughts? This time it's not steel. It's freedom of speech. The steel equivalent, IMO, was Big Pharma and, for the most part, the Science Institute won that one. "When their fat little comforts are threatened you can be sure that science is the first thing men will abandon." That was about 15 years ago, starting with Simpsonwood and continuing on today. Watch how the establishment goes after Musk, now... Already similar, IMO.

    Welcome to the Gulch, jj63.
As an objectivist, I examine evidence and apply rational thought for my conclusions.
I agree that Musk used his talents in his youth to become wealthy, and he wisely grew that wealth.
Unfortunately, like many successful people, Musk then pursued businesses that required
government action to succeed and government 'favors' are effectively theft from the rest of us.
Musk has been dependent on government handouts/contracts in his business for nearly
20 years and that is still the case.
Tesla has not earned any profit that wasn't stolen from other people by government action.
    That is still the case.
Space X is wholly dependent on government contracts for its existence.
Those contracts are funded by stealing from other people.
What will Musk do if government acts to withdraw the favors that provide Musk profits?

While I applaud action that supports free speech over censorship, it will take a lot of actions
that support free markets and individual liberty by Musk to earn my support given his history
    of taking government favors.
I hope you are correct, but I am not convinced by Musk's actions.

Musk takes advantage of laws as well as being disadvantaged by them. This is the ad hominim attack lefties use when attacking AR. "She took social security!

I would argue about that. Captain America is NOT greater than Rearden. The effect that a titan of industry has to elevate quality of life in general is severely underestimated.

Yes, I stay current on the news. If you stayed current on this thread, you will see that I think that Elon Musk and Rearden do have much in common, with the primary exception being Musk's willingness to take government cheese earlier in his career.

Or Trump did as he was supposed to by inflating the debt and removing the obstacles and safeguards put in place to prevent harmful/deadly corporate concoctions from being mass released into the public? In hindsight Warp Speed is damning as his continued insistence, knowing what we do now, to promote the jabb. Why?

I wasn't a big fan of Musk, TBH. He got his money mostly from government handouts. But I fully support his plans to buy Twitter and expose all of the corruption going on there.

Metaphors? Is this how far objectivist has fallen? Listen to his Ted Talk last week and then comment.

The government is attacking musk. Suddenly they have opened up an investigation to Tesla. Do you stay current on the news? It might help.

Is this the objectivist viewpoint? He is not a politician. He is the Thomas Edison of our time. Furthermore he is still on twitter.

Musk is the only person who can break the cabal. Separately and more important, Biden wants oil to drill on federal land now. The is Atlas Shrugged. With the premium tax they want they can't make anyone "Drill". Go try to make them.

I am very refreshed to hear free speech arguments!

They predate Twitter. Elon said the same things about Russia and the Ukraine, and used his satellites to that end.

Regardless of his motives, it is exposing a wealth of lefty Orwellian totalitarians with ridiculous statements about the NEED for censorship!!!!!!! Are you kidding kids? Listen to this!! This should be part of the RIMO platform in November.

Repeal Section 230! if you censor, you obvious monitor, and you do not need section 230 protections. Either open your platform, or close it, and deal with the consequences of your First Amendment Rights.

I should add that I don’t know if ELONgated MUSKrat is a good guy or a bad guy, yet.
But, if he’s making the guys who I KNOW are the BAD guys have heart palpitations that’s a GOOD thing.
What I want the most is for The People to see this whole paradigm for what it is. And you have to be a special kind of stupid not to see this for what it is. Some never will. And that’s okay.
Useful idiots are part of the equation too.
These Elites are kind of all Jackals fighting over a piece of road kill anyway. The best solution is to get off the damn road.

In my deepest darkest conspiracy theory, Trump was supposed to try to stay in the White House prompting an all out Civil War. But he didn’t take the bait. So we got President Potato instead. But that’s all kinds of multi level chess.
