Going by the daily news, books like AS have moved out of the "fiction" category.

God help us all!

This is just a "meme" (a humorous or ironic image with text which may or may not be a play on a pop culture saying...like our "Mean Girls" image was) not something Gene Wilder actually said. It's just meant to be funny...Mr. Wonka is indicating that he only reads fiction so he doesn't read Ayn Rand because her work has turned out to be true.

Ayn rands novel is a fiction. He only reads non-fiction. There fore the reason he does not read ayn rand is that the novel turned out. To be NONFICTION . Think about it.
