March 31, 2020 was my last load out of Minneapolis. Two large trailers of my shop stuff and a small semi trailer of machinery. Moving 300 miles east into a county the size of a moderate city (75k).

I began this planning in early 2017. Nov. 2019 bought a property that would accommodate a small shop and food production; only 2/3 acre. First was 3 phase electric and establishing some relations business and personal. Early March 2021 began the "farm", modest yet enough. Culling trees for disease, harvesting other trees for garden beds (some 7 tons) and sawing all the boards with a new acquaintance. Manufacturing some 35 beds and fencing them for deer and rabbit, and finding some 20 yd of topsoil to fill. Planting. Acquiring 2 large machinery shipping containers (harvesting another 7 ton of trees) and converting them to storage (1100 gal of rainwater included). I'm 100% organic and heritage seeded. This year should triple production for 1/2 the effort. Well, except the preserving. We gonna be busy this fall.

I acquainted myself with a loose group of, more or less, permaculture families. From this I have pruned some 2 dozen fruit trees, of which I found a new talent. My pears, 50 to 60 pcs annual, now produce 300 to 600. I have another dozen to get to on an adjoining property along with a substantial grape vine system. Found a new strain of Maple for sap while clearing around some pastured apple trees a month ago. The sap is sugar laden before reduction.

Expanding the garden incorporates 7ga wire cattle panels 16 foot long. Hmmm, what if I cut these and formed them for tomato cages? Here goes another business venture, just starting. I laid one down yesterday and stood upon it; minimal deformation with me at 200#....I win, and can make 150% profit at $25 sale.

I'm reestablishing my specialty axle housing repair service and continuing some industrial machining fixturing from the past...maybe 5% of normal. From the sawmill we've built rough wooden benches and sold about 20 so far at $50 each.

In my spare time I "storm" progressive school boards and challenged the Mayor, very curtly, on an EDI committee formation (that didn't work so well for him). Six comments from the gallery afterward that they had never seen him so "red" in the face. Committee abandoned...for now, but he's a weasel. This all surrounds getting monies in some form from grants, etc.
