    I don't know if you've seen a History Channel project titled How The Earth Was Made. Highly interesting. One of the episodes covered the Sahara vis-a-vis the Earth's wobble.

    The final tipping point 5-6,000 years ago seems to have been volcanic activity which shifted weather patterns , an ironically is what lead to peoples grouping together to become the ancient Egyptian empire
