"2112": Rush's Comic Book Adaptation of Ayn Rand's "Anthem."

I was a Rush fan for a very long time before I ever knew there was an Ayn Rand. I had no idea why I liked the early Rush music and 2112 in particular. For Rush, the revolutionary device is the Guitar. In Anthem, it's a light bulb. In Atlas Shrugged, it's the motor of the 20th Century Motors Co. If you have 20 minutes to spare, have a look.

Who do you think inspired "Freewill"? Rand.
And now....read, read, re-read The Objectivist's Ethics. Take in the principles set forth. Start applying to your life, the encounters you've had and perceived. Then go for a binge-watching of the first three series of Star Trek. There is a fundamental reason for the popularity that is not cult based.

        Yes, Star Trek.
Prime Directive....shall not initiate use of force nor interfere without pre-identified cause or contract/treaty.
        "I swear by my life".

Rand's mind is in the Ferengi contracting, the Klingon religion of force/honor, the duplicity of Romulus, the harsh adherence to Law from Vulcan. One Rule binds us all....the values of mortality. Leave the brute until it's brutishness affects healthy interaction...and then cage it or end it. This last is where we fail. Kill a cancer, kill a virus, kill a bacteria.....because they don't look like us.

Oh the Prime Directive, of course! What do we fail on?

We fail in addressing killing versus murder.
Taken to an objective extreme: The predation upon women or children is the necessary, immediate killing, of the aggressor. No excuses. To kill or maim a child or female is anti Life.
To initiate physical force against anyone is to invite mortal force used in defense. No excuses.
To deprive one of property by force or duplicity is to invite the use of mortal force in defense. This is what happened to cattle and horse rustlers.

What's changed? The most of "You" are not willing to bloody your own hands. I've already been face to face within the contexts listed above. First-hand. Not one has taken me up on mortal challenge. In every altercation my opponent realized I was willing to spend my life in jail to end their aggressions........permanently.
