Pat Buchanan: sourcing the Ukraine-Russia War

Pat Buchanan and I agree about much--as we usually do--and here in particular.

Bush senior was president, elected in 1988, just as the USSR was beginning to collapse and fall apart. The disintegration was complete in 1992, just as Bush exited the presidential scene. So Bush senior bears the responsibility for one of the greatest foreign policy failures in human history.

As anti-Stalinists were beginning to make their voices heard, clawing their way to power, and cries of "Democracy Now!" were being heard in Moscow and Leningrad streets, the US (under Bush) stood by flatfooted and left NATO's missiles armed and aimed at the hatchling Russian Federation. NATO in 1991 became an alliance seeking an enemy. Instead of deescalating, NATO continued to expand its nuclear threat eastward--finally right up to the border of "mother Russia" itself when the Baltic states became NATO partners in 2004.

Sometimes when you go looking for an enemy, brandishing weapons, you create one--even out of people who might have been the best of friends. Putin rose to that occasion and to fulfill the mission of the lost enemy NATO was prowling for.

In the linked editorial (via Rasmussen Reports), Pat Buchanan only reinforces my argument.

all nukes have be remove from US Navy ships, except the Boomers

our missiles have their default target set for the ocean, in case of a mistake. Russians are supposed to have done the same

all nuke cannon shells have been destroyed

all short range nuke missiles are gone, like the Pershing II

the US and Russia have 5,000 ready nukes each now, down from over 30,000 each

yup, was stupid to allow certain nations into NATO
in fact, why not bring Russia into NATO against China??

Putin has made it clear that Ukraine as a member of NATzO is not tolerable. I see his point of view when you consider Article 5 I believe. If Ukraine encroached in to Russia , their own (Rus) defense would trigger most of the western world against them. NATzO currently is a joke . We pay threw the nose only to protect those that enrich the Russians , like Germany.

How did we get here? And where do we go from here?

How did we get to where Russia -- believing its back is against a wall and the United States, by moving NATO ever closer, put it there -- reached a point where it chose war with Ukraine rather than accepting the fate and future it believes the West has in store for Mother Russia?

This article is a bit lacking . Buchanan poses these Questions and yet in his timeline .

From the article. “In 2014, a democratically elected pro-Russian president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, was overthrown in Kyiv and replaced by a pro-Western regime. Rather than lose Sevastopol, Russia's historic naval base in Crimea, Putin seized the peninsula and declared it Russian territory.
Teddy Roosevelt stole Panama with similar remorse.
    Which brings us to today.”

The Color Revolution that took Yanukovych out and put in Petro Poroshenko engineered by Hussein’s own ethics Czar Norm Eisen and with the C-A , plus carried out by brown shirt neo-Nazi (anti-fa) agitators and BLM mob types. They go out and terrorize the public to submission . Since the over throw of the popular Nationalist Yanukovych who refused to sign a EU Trade agreement siding with the Russians instead. Poroshenko signed it almost immediately when he was placed in power. I think he has been recently arrested for treason. Anyway the IMF funnels $billions in aid and the people see nothing! The natural resources are stolen by Burisma and who looks the other way gets paid off in a director position. What other mischief went on in Ukraine? Hmmmm... I do remember One of Jeffery Epstiens’s plane flew to the Ukraine more often than Bill Clinton took a ride to the island
