Race in America Today...is still a cesspool

While working this morning I heard an interview on a national news tv show. The reporter was interviewing a black woman who's had a great career as a basketball coach. Cool. But, the questioning was about how tough this woman's childhood had been. She saw domestic violence, was somewhat poor. Etc. I started to think...Why are they interviewing this woman? She seemed very sharp, and well-spoken. I liked her and enjoyed hearing her speak. But...I experienced domestic violence when I was a kid. My folks were pretty broke most of my childhood. I've had a very successful, impactful career. Why not interview me? Well....I think it's because I'm expected to pull myself up by the bootstraps and get with it...due to how I look. My childhood wasn't much different. Then it dawned on me. Maybe we keep getting these stories in national tv because they are trying to remind people of color that they AREN'T SUPPOSED to pull themselves up by the bootstraps. For them to do it is supposed to be the exception. Maybe my coffee hadn't kicked in yet. But, I don't see the establishment as treating people equally on this kind of thing much. Everything must be seen through the lens of skin color with these people. Different standards based on your appearance, etc. Strange and sad realization...

    This reminds me of another topic in the Gulch where in the comments someone brought up a link to a black female college professor who was disparaging America for not allowing black people to get a college education. Let that sink in. It seems to be standard procedure in the MSMM to parade successful blacks in America who are willing to play the race card even if they themselves are shining examples contradicting what they are selling. Never mind the millions of whites or Asians in America that started with just as much nothing as the black woman in the OP and became successful.

    That's what the "Race" of "Parasitical Humanoids" do in our Kakistocracy...they only know different race of upright human looking entities on this planet that I know of.
    And guess what else...they too, come in All colors.

    Racism sells, people tune in, buy what's advertised so the impetus is to keep it going finding those who can put a nice spin on it; i.e. I succeeded in spite of all those who hate me and are white (which is the definition of racism, to hate or categorize because of any specific condition of a person who could not control it).
    Most people would not trade their problems for the problems of others if they could understand what those problems are. Life is tough. It is not good all the time. The secret is to make it as good as possible for yourself, those that depend on you and those you interact with. At best at the end the sum of your life is good and you will be pleased with your efforts. Change yourself and live morally and your world will change around you.

    No. You are correct. Try being a white woman, single parent, in an all male environment. That's discrimination.

      I imagine so. I'm trying to teach my kids that people who would discriminate like that are mental midgets who will end up begging you for a job if you just mind your own business and bust your butt. But...when you add the power of the media and the government...that's awfully hard to overcome. Impossible, it seems. When I first returned to California in 1992 the engineering manager of a local county offered me a job. Their personnel office wouldn't process me into the system because I was a white male. I was young and stupid at that time, but my education was underway...

      All Single Parents, regardless of Gender/Color have a TOUGH Road to hoe! It is literally the toughest job out there.

      Next, if you are IN an all male environment, that's not discrimination. If you were BlOCKED from it, that MAY BE.

      I've almost always agreed with your positions. This one, I think is poorly worded.
      As human beings, being the only X in a pool of Ys (not a chromosome reference, HONEST!)... Is hard.
      By design, we internalize the game "Which one of these does not belong". Even subconsciously.

      But again, I will argue it is NOT discrimination. It may be Discernment. (Simply recognition that you are that X, or that someone else is that X). It means you might stand out.

      But if you are there... Realize you are not OUTSIDE, being kept outside. Also realize Progress is slow.

      For me... Try being the DUMBEST Person in the Galt... It hurts, but I am still allowed. :-)
