Quiet resistance is sometimes louder than the blast of a cannon. In both this case and the Tank Man in Tiananmen Square, the actions they took were quiet, but have echoed for decades afterward.

Where individual quiet resistance fails is that in the face of tyranny and oppression, it allows the movement that is spreading to continue, while destroying the individual using it. When a great many people employ quiet resistance, it lessens the effect of each individual instance but makes the movement overall more powerful. It takes a truly great leader to form change through it, and those are so very rare. It takes a the courage of a John Galt to resist, and it takes the mind of a John Galt to inspire others to resist.
