In a 1905 essay, “The Czar’s Soliloquy,” Mark Twain reminds us of what so many people forget today: “The modern patriotism, the true patriotism, the only rational patriotism is loyalty to the nation all the time, loyalty to the government when it deserves it.”

Our government no longer deserves that loyalty.

    I didn't vote for Obama because I researched him and learned he was a 'Community Organizer'. I think that translates to 'Communist' because his idol was Karl Marx. I nearly gagged when he kissed that Saudi king's ring. Paying homage to his leader!

    None of this lunacy of the left makes any sense until one realizes the systematic destruction of Free America is deliberate. That is, deliberately planned by true believers in Marxism and other America's enemies and gone along with by crowds of brainwashed sheep. Then add in the corrupt who just want profit and power derived from the rot and you have a powerful evil we're up against.

      You sir are 100% correct. That’s exactly what’s happening. A whole host of carrion eaters consume the carcass of the US of A. While they may squabble amongst themselves the end result is the same.

    I have feared this was all intentional and I think this article explains who the culprit really is. I suspected that also and I'm not alone in my suspicions. He wanted a 3rd term and I think he is having it at our expense.

    Being rational is not possible for many in this country, apparently a majority. I remember taking a FORTRAN class (yes I am ancient) and learning about 'If-Then' statements. Computers are (or at least were) brutally logical. If-then statements must be carefully constructed to get the proper result. I suspect far too many graduates of our current education system would make very poor FORTRAN programmers.

      FORTRAN was my first programming language so I'm ancient as well and I agree 100% that a large swath of our population is lacking in logical skills. I suspect much of that is the failure of the education system, but some of it is because some individuals just don't have the ability to think logically.

      I must add my logical abilities were given a huge boost by a geometry teacher and a physics teacher in high school in the mid '60s, which prepared me for FORTRAN and other languages before I even knew what they were. It seems to me the modern education system is more feelings based than logic. Sadly this was becoming true even in the early '80s when I had to work with "computer science" graduates who couldn't write a line of code if their life depended on it - at the risk of being called a racist these were the first generation of affirmative action degrees entering the workplace.

    Nothing new to us here but a shinning ray of hope...we've broken through the thin veil of, " Trust in Government".

    I, on the other hand, think, it's on purpose BECAUSE of stupidity, a lack of conscience absent a conscious mind which by definition is in fact...
    willfully unforgiveable stupidity.

    I am glad this journalist has awakened.
